"Luther" BBC show available on Amazon instant. First season was mind blowing. Also, "Broadchurch", also from the BBC. Great great shows.
Definitely! Tim Olyphant must have made some kind of Faustian bargain to land two such great shows in one lifetime. Justified, Season 2 in particular is just appallingly good.
The writers were planning on at least one more season, so yes - it's anti-climatic in the sense that the story was intended to continue. Afterwards there was talk of at least a couple of two hour shows/movies to wrap it up, but it never came together for a variety of reasons. Too bad. One of the best Shows of all time IMHO.
Masters Of Sex Downton Abbey Sherlock (BBC) Almost Human Arrow Under The Dome The Following The Blacklist Hung Six Feet Under
Showtime's The Tudors was a Excellent series also and you can stream it on Netflix in 5.1 Dolby Digital
Uh, WHERE? Alexpop's post is the first to mention it in this thread. Another vote here for Justified. We're 4 episodes into season 4 on Blu-ray, and digging it as much as the first 3 seasons!
From what I understand, they got put on the chopping block too fast to have time to wrap it up or give the story a better trajectory. One of the ideas to salvage the original flow of the story was a full length movie but that didn't happen so we were left with a strangulated finish that didn't satisfy anyone. I don't even think about the show in terms of it ending. Instead, I relish each and every show before the last one. It was spectacular and like The Sopranos changed my idea of what television could be. To this day it is the only tv show that I own in its entirety. I don't even own any episodes of any other tv shows in fact. I've watched it all twice and will do it again when the mood strikes and then maybe, just maybe I'll sell it off or give it away. I realize that the profanity put off some people but outside of those few words that were oft repeated, it was like Shakespeare in the ideas, the flow and the execution. Sometimes we had to stop the player to either rewind or to let our brains catch up or to simply bask in its greatness. Speaking of Timothy OlyphantI almost forgot to mention the show Justified based on Elmore Leonard's prose. Another great but violent tv show. I'll be sad the day it comes to an end.
Yes I'm sure it's worth repeats. The DVD R2 box lacks extras. Believe the USA has more. It would nice to update the story 10 years later assuming most of the characters are still alive. Hearst's son William would have been 20 then.
We have watched the first 3 seasons of MI-5 and it was excellent. It was a BBC show. It think we saw it on Amazon Prime Video.
There was also a show I really liked called Life, with the guy from Band of Brothers. Really good show cancelled after two seasons.
Absolutely. Season 5 starts on Tuesday. Best to watch it from the beginning however. All seasons a good, but (as mentioned above) Season 2 was a corker. Wonderful show based on an Elmore Leonard character.
Damages is the best lawyer show I've ever seen, taking stories inspired from the headlines and going behind the scenes. The writers structure the show with suspense and tantalizing bits of the ending out of context so to speak. Close and Byrne are the constants amidst a sea of excellent supporting actors (many of whom you could call "guest stars") and it's just a thrill ride from start to finish, each season a complete storyline.
