Does an AF title get "retired" after it sells out of the 5,000 copy run?

Yes I received a reply from Marshall back on the February 1st.

    Hi David:

Yes, we are re-pressing this title on the 15th of this month.

    Thanks for your inquiry.

So this is another case of - "limited to the number that we can sell." :)

Did AudioFidelity communicate a number anywhere?

Nice harmonies but the non Stills songs are still basically crap.

When AF was just ramping up some numbers were discussed. 5000 for a standard run. The 2 Doors titles that were expected to be big sellers were to be 7500. It wouldn't surprise me is CSN was also slated for 7500. Of course, that is "old" information. Things could have changed. . .

I understand that AF is in the business to make money, and sell records. However, this reminds me of other situations when something is said to be limited, and the result being that most people feel a need to rush out and buy it before it is sold out, and one would end up having to pay a lot more on the secondary market.

But, then they go back to re-press.

Sure, they're limited, but nowhere does it say it's limited to a specific number. And it's not like 10 years have passed and they're repressing. This is still the initial release - I see nothing wrong with them pressing another 2500 or even 5000, if they feel they can sell them. If it's good for their business it's ultimately good for it's customers (i.e. us). Seems like a win-win to me. The only people that might object are those looking to make a profit in the secondary market.

I was never complaining, I simply wondered if there was a set number of pressings for a title. I'm certainly not selling my copy - I love it!

No matter if it's 5000, 7500, 10,000 , in the end it will be a rare CD....el mundo es muy grande, numero 10,000 ain't much, even.

I'm finally now getting a chance to listen to this (my own copy, not the library copy I posted about above)

Does anyone else have a glitch at 1:30 on "49 Bye-Byes" (right after he sings "in the spring").

Yup, it's on my rip (Apple Lossless) that I have here @ work. Sounds like a digital glitch to me, not something that would've been inherent to the master tapes.
    :(

I should say that the CD sounds fabulous otherwise. So much more "presence" (for lack of a better word) than either the early Atlantic or the 2006 CDs that I have, at least on my modest CD player and system.

    "Guinevere" especially gives me goosebumps.

Will you guys please TAKE YOUR CANS OFF and enjoy the music? I'm not going to use No-Noise on a minor tape flaw like this. Goes against my grain. Just ignore it, it's part of the master tape, an old analog tic. Worth it to get an entire generation closer to the music than the old Atlantic CD.

    Get over it, please! :)

    I'm over it. :)

I wasnt wearing headphones, BTW. It jumps out even with speakers.

I'm curious though why it wasn't audible on the old Atlantic CD. That CD pre-dated No-noise and digital workstations, no? How would they have removed it then?
