POLL: Bob Dylan's Highway 61 Revisited - your favourite track?

I've always loved silly-comical Dylan. This is how I find meaning in "Clothesline Saga".

 

I voted for song #1. My second favorite is song #2.
Each song is my favorite, though, when it's playing. A perfect record.

 

I love it all but I voted for From a Buick 6. Probably not actually the best song on the record (okay definitely not) but that's the song that made me realize that, despite what so many had told me, Bob Dylan was actually a great singer. So incredibly confident.

This album is almost inhuman its so fantastic. This is not the stuff of mere mortals.

Agreed; a perfect record except for that silly siren on the title track. I'd rather hear someone play on a pennywhistle for crying out loud.

 

Queen Jane Approximately, with Tombstone Blues as my next favorite, I think. A tough one.

After those, if ranking them, I'd probably go with either Desolation Row or Just Like Tom Thumb's Blues.

 

I think it may be a bit disingenuous (at least for me) to pick anything but Rolling Stone. If that song wasn't on there, if it didn't exist, then what?

Hey, it's a free country, pick anything you like. But, really, which song have you played the most?...

 

Today it's "Just Like Tom Thumb's Blues". But "Like A Rolling Stone", "Queen Jane Approximately" and "Desolation Row" are also possible answers.

 

Well, its one of the greatest rock albums of all time. Maybe even the first rock album as such.

Favourite as opposed to best? Best is a tossup between LARS and DR.

Probably Tom Thumb for favourite. Fantastic lyrics.

My vote goes to Ballad of a Thin man, one of my favourite Bob Dylan songs in general. The lyrics bite like acid and Dylan just seems to be spitting them right in your face here.

Also, I really like Tombstone Blues, so honourable mention.
Also, I really like the entire album, so I'll stop rambling.

 

I voted for "Desolation Row" but "Just Like Tom Thumb's Blues" is nagging at my conscience. And might explode.

Weird saying this about an album that includes "Like A Rolling Stone."

 

Yeah, that's how good this album is.

I was thinking today on my way to work that after hearing all the different versions from this past Bootleg Series and the live versions from the 1966 tour, I still prefer the versions on the regular album. (And not because I grew up with them, I have only been a Dylan fan about 10 years or so.)

 

Ballad of a Thin Man... but the whole album is fantastic.

 

Desolation Row by a very wide margin.

 

I'm listening to this album in mono after Dead & Co. get done with "New Speedway Boogie" (7/23/16). I'm not sure if mono is my preferred listening experience for this one, but I hardly ever play the The Original Mono Recordings.

 

Like a Rolling Stone, for me.

 

If it didn't exist, then 'Tom Thumb' would be the 3rd best song on the record, after 'Desolation Row' and 'Thin Man'...

As for me, Desolation Row is by far the song I've played the most, I put it near the front of his entire catalog.

 

No Blonde on Blonde??!! Although, come to think of it, how could you decide on a single favourite track?

 

It's been one or two albums a day, I suspect he's working his way to that.

I kind of like the forced choice, no changing it. It goes to show just how strong many of Dylan's albums are.

 

I've been asked to slow them down, so we'll get there but it might take a while...

This may be the most difficult one to pick from for me. So many faves! I went with It Takes A Lot To Laugh

 

I picked Desolation Row, but wanted to say something nice about Queen Jane Approximately. I remember reading a review somewhere saying Jane is not up to the rest of the album, and I completely disagree. It is right there with all the high points.

Now that I think about it, are there any low points? Cant think of any.
