That copy of Help! would've been purchased at Sam the Record Man in downtown T.O. I remember when the Beatles display was on the wall between the former CIBC bank branch and the original store, and in the early '90s I picked up several of the titles to replace worn-out cassettes from '87.

The usual Beatles experts are quiet as mice. This is really strange.

  10. The copies of Help! U.K. and Rubber Soul U.K. that I have on CD were acquired before day of release when I working in radio. Both copies are W German pressings, Martin, '87 remix.

I'm running out now to one of the HMV locations. Friend there is the mgr. and big Beatles fan. He's cracking open the copy(s) he has in the store. I'm bringing a needle drop of the originals to compare (from my Blue Box).

    Phil's right.

No slap echo means it's the original mix!

    Very, very strange.

You can count me in for a couple if they are!

So both the Canadian Rubber Soul and Help! contain the correct mixes? I wonder if one of our Canadian friends can confirm if these are the currently available versions in Canada.

  15. Only those manufactured by "Disque Americ".

I'm wondering how this would even have happened! Is it a reallllly amazing "mistake"...or does someone like me work for Capitol of Canada?

  18. We should work our way through the entire Canadian catalogue ...

My Canadian "Help!" C2-46439 times in at 34:26 while my Japanese copy, which I bought to replace it due to better packaging, time in at 34:15. My Rubber Soul was bought during the first run from W Germany, though now I'll be looking.

I think fellow member "button" diserves the credit of this unique finding, so congratulations to him.

I was going to say the same thing. He should go down in the history books with this finding. I'm sure there are others that will try to stake claim, but it was printed here first.

    yeah yeah yeah!!! :righton:

We should work are way though the entire Disque Americ Beatles catalog.
(probably what you meant to say as well, just to be clear)

Scan of the back cover please!

    This is giving me goosebumps!!!

This CD will probably be 'only' be $50US a pop by next weekend!!! ;-)

    Translation for "Disque Americ".

    Thank you & GREAT FIND!

$300.00 a pop within 3 days I'd guess. If this turns out that only a few hundred copies were accidentally mastered from the right mixes, it will fetch a bit more than $50.00.

I would guess any Beatles run of CDs would be in the thousands. But even if it is only 5,000 effected, still very rare item.
