And more on just how much money MGM is losing on No Time to Die...

Why MGM Considered Selling 'No Time to Die' to Netflix - Variety

The article says the interest charges alone on the film is now $1 million per month, which is a lotta money. Note they've already spent $301 million on the film (about $240M on the movie itself and another $60M on promotion), which is very high for a film that will have been delayed a year as of April 2021.

One interesting fact: it apparently was true that Apple and Netflix did each offer $400M to MGM, which would have given them a profit on the film, but they asked for somewhere between $600M and $800M, at which point the streamers walked away.

That's the best idea I've heard all year.
You are to be commended for offering up this suggestion.
The moderators should send you a bottle of Dom Pérignon 1953.
A proper version of Colonel Sun means make it like a Terence Young Bond film.

    RIP Sean.

This poor movie has had more delays than anything I can think of.

MGM should just put it out on PVOD. With a little promotion, this could make back that money easily. James Bond is not Trolls World Tour or Mulan.

Doh! Now, No Time to Die (aka Bond 25) has had its release pushed to October 8, 2021:

'No Time to Die' Release Date Delayed Again - Variety

I'm actually very hopeful that maybe they can find a way to safely re-open movie theaters in America sometime around summer (4-5 months from now). Man, I really miss restaurants, movie theaters, shopping, and live entertainment. I'll say this: I won't take those things for granted ever again.

Fully agreed and it really does make you realise how much we do take for granted. I just hope all those things we miss now will still be there when we get through this thing. But we will get thru it, history shows that we have got through worse situations than this.

In the case of the Bond film this must now be close to a record for the longest delay for a major film production to hit the screens from being in the can?

I think you're right, given that it was supposed to come out in Spring 2020. So it's basically 18 months late! I just pray things are OK for a release in the fall and things can get back to a version of normal -- not just for movie fans, but for so much of business and life and everybody.

EON have updated the picture's name and have modified the poster to reflect how DC will look at the premier party.

On one hand, maybe this will teach them to keep their budgets down.

Maybe they should've renamed it. Doesn't sound like the most inviting title these days.
