    Thoughts?

Good entry level option for a kid?
Counterweight, anti-skate, pre-amp, option for cartridge upgrade...
Is this a decent way to send a beginner down the rabbit hole or is it garbage?

Looks like it would be perfect to get a kid started on vinyl.

On these entry level TT's, I would stick to used records as much as possible.

Pretty sweet for $100. There are plenty of people, mostly younger ones, for whom bluetooth is the only thing they're interested in so this is for that crowd. Target is having some kind of sale just about every day now. If someone is thinking of picking one of these up you might wait to see if they're going to have a deal.

BTW, I was in Target yesterday and noticed they had some vinyl--very limited but some Beatles, Hendrix, mostly classic rock stuff, might have been a James Taylor hits album. I know the discount stores have been stocking some vinyl for a while but this was the first time I had see it in my neighborhood store.:)

I saw that too at Target! not cheap but probably standard retail pricing. Mine had quite a few DSOTM reissues and Appetite for Destruction. And Marvin What's Goin On.

Unbelievable for $100. Great for kids or even the want to be audiophile with very little funds.

There's plenty of great sounding, brand new vinyl to be had for less than half that price, all day, everyday. Then there's thrift stores, ebay, friends, neighbors, etc. Friends of parents that will just give you vinyl... I gave my piano tuners daughter literal crates of records. Software is not a deal at all. If you wanna spend big money on records, that's strictly a personal choice.

Yes, new vinyl at can be had at reasonable prices, as long as patience and discipline are exercised.

I might get one of these for my bedroom. Its a small area.

I wish I could have seen if there was much wobble in that video but I’m convinced. Could be worth a shot for $99.

Anything to keep the youth off the Crosleys is good IMO.

I haven't watched the video yet, but is there reason to believe that this is better than, say, the $100 Audio-Technica?

Anti-skate, counterweight. No auto functions as far as I can tell.

I wonder how this stacks up in comparison to a Crosley, feature-wise and quality-wise...

My gosh, 6th-9th grade me would have been over the moon opening this box on Xmas/birthday. Then again, BT speakers in 1965 left something to be desired. I probably would have saved my paper route money for a $4.95 Lepai-Lepy amp and some $21.95 Andrew Jones SP22 speakers.

Uhhh, let me get this straight... 99 bucks, and it includes wireless, a cart, and a preamp?

Sooo... just how good do you think the bearing, motor, build quality, sound quality, etc. will then be, even by el cheapo TT standards? :sigh:

Unless it’s being sold as a pretty huge loss-leader for Target, would think it’d have to have ‘Crosley-like’ internals/quality. Hope I’m wrong.

    So’s a U-Turn. But it’s actually good. :)

To be fair, I haven’t heard or inspected a Heyday yet. But given the economics and the ‘target audience’ (forgive the pun), I’m not optimistic.

    YMMV.

Could be a loss leader now that they are selling vinyl in Target. My local Target had a decent selection of popular titles with prices comparable to Amazon.

I think it's a great way to introduce the masses to the sonic wonders of vinyl without requiring them to mortgage their homes and learn about the mysteries of anti-skating and VTA that fascinate us so. Opens up a whole new market: normal people!
