Saturday the 14th is pretty terrible. I shudder to think how worse the sequel is (and how did it get made?)

Even though there was a movie(Under the Cherry Moon) that followed Purple Rain, the real sequel was Graffiti Bridge. Yeah, it was a terrible movie, but worth a watch one time just for the scenes with Morris Day(same for Purple Rain-IMO). I do love the Songs on the Graffiti Bridge Soundtrack though, as it is one of my Favorite Prince Albums.

"Starship Troopers" had two sequels, neither of which seems to show up anywhere.

In a similar vein, the Gulf War movie Jarhead spawned a series of direct-to-video sequels which have been somewhat forgotten. Just like Starship Troopers, Jarhead wasn't a box office hit, but really took off on home video sales. Hence the sequels.

I don't think it's even fair to compare to the original. Also, I'm not sure if it's actually suppose to be a sequel to the original, seems like it was meant to be its own thing and marketing probably made them title it Return To Oz to lure people in.

It's an excellent movie, too. i read all the Baum books, and many of the Thompson ones, as a child, and I thought Return to Oz was more faithful to the spirit of the books than The Wizard of Oz.

No, Return to Oz wasn’t meant to be a sequel to the 1939 movie, technically, though it does retain the ruby slippers (in Baum’s novel, the slippers were silver). It’s an adaptation of parts of Baum’s 2nd and 3rd Oz novels.

Jaws 2 is passable (John Williams’s score is excellent), but 3 and 4 are amazingly awful.
