Ok, I guess , but more of a disappointment than a show (s) that kept me engrossed and anticipating the next scene . Always liked the characters of Liv and Eliot in the older L&Os , a standout pair with great chemistry that helped make it a must watch program.
I' m not sure they quite regained the magic tonight , as they were about to launch El in a new iteration of L&O. And it seems
unlikely we' ll see much of Benson on this new drama, with Eliot back home in a unit that battles organized crime- an intriguing concept but off mho to a so so start .

Part of the problem relates to a ( not exact ) quote by David Letterman when a joke, story or skit wound up revealing
the ' spoiler ' way before the punchline came --
"You could see that one coming down Fifth Avenue ."

So- SPOILER ALERT here - it seemed pretty obvious to this viewer way before the drama unfolded that
1- Kathy Stabler would not survive to the next show
2- Liv and Eliot would have an awkward talk that supposedly addressed the split from a decade ago , which didn't really resolve anything and left a lot of loose ends
3- That the guy ( Wheatly? - played by Dylan McDernott ) who is the son of a mob boss- was gonna get on that Ferris Wheel with his mob boss dad, and that his dad was not gonna get off. Guess you could see that one coming down the Coney Island fairway. Also felt Dylan was not well cast in this role, would have preferred him as part of the anti crime unit, but that's just mho ( and who knows; maybe he' ll wind up being revealed as an undercover agent- if so, you heard it first here ) . I also found the 'Roman Holiday' excuse to where the Stablers disappeared to a bit overreaching as a story arc.

So maybe the new show will ' find' itself and evolve to the type of quality writing and acting fans come to expect from L&O. The premier wasn't the best I've seen, but maybe no show could live up to the expectations of Eliot's return. At least the premise is interesting, it had a cast of good actors , and some nice video footage in and around and away from the streets of NYC. I' ll still give it a chance to see how it goes.

I've enjoyed Pan Am more as the series has progressed....the plotlines & characters becoming more fully developed, deeper & satisfying, that now I'm wishing it had continued on beyond Season 1.
    Last viewed:
Episodes #8 (Unscheduled Departure - where they land in Haiti under dictationship rule @ time, due to passenger suffering heart attack/nearest airport) & #9 (Kiss Kiss Bang Bang - the espionage part... in middle of clandestine meeting, fire alarm goes off in hotel..awaiting outcome in next episode)

I dunno but I hope so. I think there's still a lot of interesting places they could take those characters...

I just finished bingeing all 96 episodes of Homeland! I enjoyed all of it and thought the finale was well done :) I doubt I'll ever watch it again but it was a fun ride!

Mr. Mercedes (season 1) A killer torments the retired detective that never caught him. Lots of records in the detective's house, The Kinks, Warren Levon, Leonard Cohen and lots of blues.
