Peter Brotzmann Steve Swell Paal Nilssen-Love Live in Copenhagen 4/14/2016 Incredibly exciting vibrant and often explosive performance and amazing live recorded sound. Plus almost 75 minutes with ZERO fluff & NO filler. Must have been something to be there in person. Swell is one of those pure sounding trombone masters and he is a great foil for the great man’s huge sounding saxophones & clarinets. To this day there’s never been a *sound* like Peter playing the tenor saxophone. And there is LOTS of tenor saxophone from Herr Brotzmann here for those who are wondering. Also not for those not familiar that Peter had just turned 75 on March 6th, 2016. On Not Two Records
And what the hell is a Zia? You’re like taking umbrage at my lack of fluent Sanskrit. I also don’t understand the scam you were pulling. Edit: listening to 6/22/19 Phish. Some in this thread view Phish the way I do Crimson—“don’t start with h me, I can’t cover the groups I’m already with.”
I was semi-referring to a comment @Rne made awhile back about not getting into Phish because of his wallet, not trying to start a flame war.
@Erik B. is referring to Zia Records, an independent chain that has several stores in the Phoenix and Las Vegas metropolitan areas. I’ve spent many $$$$ at the Las Vegas locations over the years.
On a Kinks kick today. A misty shadow spread its wings And covered all the ground And even though the sun was out The rain came pouring down
Do you like the John Mayall album The Turning Point? Then make sure to check out its follow-up Empty Rooms. Groovy stuff, man. It's a studio album from the same drummer-less band that recorded The Turning Point live.
That’s the one on Sahara. Used to go there all the time when I worked on Jones. It has since moved to the Rainbow location.
The new place is nice, but they jacked their prices up. Figures. For some reason, the pricing at the Eastern Ave. Zia seems the same.
Fly By Night on 5.1. Not extremely immersive, but it works fine anyway. I've come to enjoy this album a lot. Edit: "By-Tor & The Snow Dog" is really well mixed in surround.
I’m at the new Chase Center. I think this place is smaller than the Warriors old home, Oracle Arena. The sh—-y seats here aren’t that sh—-y. It’s like a smallish bowl. Anyway, I’m waiting for Eric Clapton with Jimmy Vaughn opening. Phish should start playing here. This place would be great for them.
There's another surround mix of this album, which was done by Steven Wilson in 2017. Since it was only available in a very expensive box set, I only have this one, which is fine, but I'm sure Wilson's must be better because he never fails at providing awesome mixes.
