Who's Next is nearly perfect. I'm kind of surprised there's much discussion, actually. But then, if we all had the same tastes, there wouldn't be an reason for this forum, would there?

Like many others I voted for Who's Next. However, I want to give a shout-out to A Quick One, with its genius mini-suite title-track and our first exposure to the twisted genius of John Entwistle, aka Big Bad Johnny Twinkle:

"Whiskey Man's my fwend he's with me nearly all the time. He's always with me when I dwink and we get on just fine"

I don't skip "My Wife" either, but I do feel it is the weakest song on WHOS NEXT. It is somewhat amusing the first time, but on repeated listens it just doesn't hold up to the magnificence of everything else on the album. Still a good song, just not "great".

    Who's Next, with Tommy 2nd.

Whoever was talking trash about "My Wife" needs paid a visit from John's wife.

    Quadrophenia.

If Live at Leeds had been on the list, I might have picked it.

Four of the songs on Who Are You are part of the Lifehouse project. Same Old Song indeed.

I vote for the best envisioned, whole, completed project out of Sell Out, Tommy, Lifehouse and Quadrophenia... Quadrophenia.

By looking at the poll results?

    (That should be obvious, no?)

Seriously, there is no way the Who Sells Out is a better album than Tommy.

No it doesn't. If this was a Stones poll, Exile, Sticky Fingers and Let it Bleed might be leading. It doesn't mean everything else is garbage.

Who's Next. An absolute classic of the ages, to my mind on the level of Sgt. Pepper, Abbey Road, Are You Experienced, Led Zeppelin IV, or Dark Side of the Moon.

You know that I wrote "this poll makes it look like", and I prefaced that with "I'm not saying that this is true," right? It was a comment about the relative amount of votes for each album.

Really it's a tire between by numbers and my generation but you only get one vote so by numbers

Tommy is my favorite. I'm surprised it's getting only 9% of the votes on this poll.

It is a small catalogue. Mainly because the band's chief songwriter has not been prolific over the last 35 years or so, and has always tended to recycle the same ideas (even in the early years, eg A Quick One, While he's Away has ideas that turn up in Tommy). Both Tommy and Quad are about a disaffected kid. So is My Generation. And so on. So we get a relatively small number of albums and themes, but such magnificence among them that we forgive all.

Also worth mentioning that the Who are a great singles band and that doesn't show here unless you include at least Meaty Beaty Big and Bouncy.

Something happened with Tommy over the years.
It's reputation. Maybe it's something people put to much into as kids and young adults.
Something happened. I think maybe it was decided that it's not cool anymore.
Like I said earlier in this thread, for years and years I would have always said that Quadrophenia
was my favorite. But the last few years I've gone back to Tommy. I think it's flawless.
Who's Next is great but mainly because of two or three songs.

I also love 'Meaty, Beaty, Big and Bouncy' and 'Odds and Sods'.

I went for Sell Out. I'm surprised people are voting for Who Are You. I think it's an absolutely dismal album with a very weak sound from the second it starts. The title track is good, but I can't get through the album. I love all the rest of the Moon - era Who, one of my favourite bands. I like the 60s stuff most.
