How to respond nicely to someone who says Pet Sounds is the most over-rated album in the world?

That album is 60 bucks a pop.....
Saw it on RSD today. I didn't touch it.

 

Love it. My cat does that all the time watching blue jays in our patio...

Five years ago I bought new this great sounding copy from Analogue Productions for literally half that price:

I wouldn't disagree, though my own personal experience has been,especially with regard to Pulp Fiction, has been that.
And also about the same with Memonto as well.
Most of the people I hang with haven't seen Citizen Kane at all....(after all it is in black and white !).

Typical dialogue with regard to Pulp Fiction...
"I didn't like it"
"Did you watch the whole movie from beginning to end"
"No"

 

tell them to stop beating my ears. I had it up to here with all the bring down.

 

In the end, I don't think "Pet Sounds" cares if we find it overrated. It speaks for itself. I'm sure it finds us overrated as well.

 

Simply agree with them, as I do.

Sure. Something you don't like can be influential on something you like.

 

It is a good album.

Many do. Others loved its bravery and melodic touches. But later Load and reLoad reconciled them into hating both of those

 

They got their over-rated albums, I've got mine.

 

I say, you stop dead in your tracks, turn around slowly, locking laser-focused on their eyes as you stand up from your chair, throwing it casually onto its' side, assuming a Clint-Eastwood-like posture.
Then, in most even, low rumble you slowly tell them in a menacing grate: "...I...rated that album..."

And then, if you can do that with a straight face, follow it up with: "So...what's your favorite Raffi album...?"

 

BOOGIE, BOOGIE!!!!!

 

My suggestion would be to ask them to listen to Caroline, No at least a few times and pay close attention to all the elements going on in the song.

 

@Brian Lux are you actually thinking about making your friend listen to Caroline, No? I'd say it's possible that might cause a change in his perception of the album.

 

That's such a fine song! How could anyone not love it?

 

By agreeing with them? Just a suggestion.

 

Yeah, I like it too. Next time you see that person the first think you should do is ask them to listen to that song

 

Why bother?
