After a very long wait i finally have bought my new Cyrus CDi player. I have been a Cyrus fan for years and i have always been impressed with my current player. This new player is simply something else. I cant believe how amazing CDs can really sound. I am so impressed and very happy with my purchase. I know Cyrus is not too well known on this forum but i cant recommend this player enough. If anyone is up for a new player, give the CDi a try. You wont be sorry

I've been using the Cyrus CDt transport (the transport end of the CDi effectively) into an external DAC for a couple of years and have never before heard so much off the CD.

Before anyone says it - no, in two years I've not had a single issue with the transport and its reading ability etc.

Hi Fellow Cyrus owner. Up until recently my entire system was Cyrus. I have recently changed my Cyrus CLS 70 speakers for PMC Twenty5 23s.
I have been listening to quite a lot of high end gear over the past few months while deciding on speakers. Cyrus is right up there in terms of sound quality. I had issues with a Cyrus7 CD player in the past but I have had my current CD8se for 6 years with no problem. I don’t use it much as I have a Stream Xa.
The only caveat to this good news is I hope you didn’t buy Black, The sound quality on the Silver units is superior

I have been a Cyrus fan for over 20yrs. I had my last cd player for very many trouble free years. My new CDi is black but sounds much better than the silver version:wave:

True, but Cyrus isn't going to be using car audio style electronics and design inside where it counts.

I do agree with you but thankfully in "real life" it looks better than the photograph. I do accept Cyrus is not to everyone's taste but they do sound great. I Really like their amps too. Their power supplies also work a treat. I use one each for the amp and cd player.

i think cyrus stuff looks kinda cool, in a clearly British and sort of 80s way

I don't know how it sounds, but it doesn 't look bad to me, it reminds me a Rega cd player.

OK....I am going to say it!
Over the years I have had TWO Cyrus amps which have had to be returned for exchange, one was DEAD right out of the box!
I have just had my Cyrus Cd player (top of the range, silver), returned to me for the second time, following transport problems, it was returned from the factory following REPAIR and `soak testing`, only for a Cd (brand new), to get completely stuck in the mechanism just a few weeks later, and had to be sent back for repair yet again!
My experience of Cyrus is not good, as I find them argumentative and unhelpful, if you contact them to say that their product is faulty, they will not admit that their product can be faulty, they will most likely just send you an email which tells you how great they are. Also the units have to be returned to the original dealer/ agent, which can involve a great deal of expensive travel.

Having said that I agree with the OP that the quality, especially with the Power unit connected, is very good, particularly with Classical music, but then it should be given the cost of Amp, Cd Player, and Power unit.

Cool looking unit. Do Cyrus CDPs (and/or this one in particular) have any specific sound qualities? I've never heard one.

Cyrus, for me at least, has its own sound. Very detailed, very "natural" and you quickly forget you are listening to a cd. If you have a dealer near you go and have a listen. See what you think. I have compared Cyrus players to many in the same price range and i for me, Cyrus wins every time.

As well as the sound and build quality, I like that you can upgrade Cyrus kit whenever you want, just by returning it to the factory, through the dealer. They did a special offer a year or two back and I upgraded my series 6and 8 players up to CDi's, and got new guarantees as well.

Cyrus PSX Rs are a worthwhile investment too.

Yes i agree as was surprised at difference PSX made.
Shame about my CDt though. Less than 4 years old and 1000 discs played and needed new laser. Cost £300 and 4 weeks poor service from Cyrus.

Sorry to hear about your player. I love Cyrus gear but from time to time they do have a history of issues with their cd players. I have never had any so far. My last Cyrus player, an 8 x lasted 12 years before VERY rarely skipping, for about half a second usually during the last track on a cd. I have kept it as a spare. The sound of Cyrus players equals any thing costing way more IMO

I've been interested in these since seeing they are well liked by the folks at What-HiFi. Too bad they are so hard to find here in the states.

Based on the comments here, thanks, I'm going to look for a used (not new) PSX R to go with my Cyrus amps and CD players.

I am having difficulties with my Cyrus CD player in that it won't play new cdi but comes up with the message 'No Disc'. It is only new discs that it won't play though they play perfectly well on my other CD players. Any comments welcome. The model is a cyrus 8
