Not really. Those DALI speakers are $8000, the Pass Labs amp $7150, and I paid $6800 for the Esoteric. Granted, it's $11, ooo new, but it fits right it with the rest of my system. I rarely play LPs, so the Technics is just fine. Years ago I had a nice Thorens with a nice moving coil cartridge, but I'd have to play more LPs to justify anything better. (According to my wife...)
Yeah, it's a solid piece of gear! I prefer the smoked glass to clear--looks classier. It's also available in a 5-shelf model.
Here is an all DIY flea powers system. 6H30 linestage, 2A3 amp and single driver full range speakers. Incredible sound and louder than you would want to listen to from 3 1/2 watts per channel.
I agree with cat9, I'm sure a GREAT time was had by all! I always love seeing photos of your gorgeous systems. In fact, I would be up for a refresher of a post featuring those magnificent speakers you made. Hope you are well.
I have some Antique Sound Labs 845 MKII amps coming. Once they are in place, I will post some new pictures.
Is that the KT88 Line Magnetic amp I see? I wouldn't leave whatever that is on the center transformer there for long. That baby gets hot. I can hardly lay a hand on mine after its been on for an hour.
Made a change to the secondary (bedroom) system.... took out Anthem 225 integrated and replaced with Bryston B60R (bought used). Also appropriated my Dad's Dual 1249 to add to the system. It has to be reconditioned before I start using it though.
Good eye. Yes that is the Line Magnetics and yes that transformer gets HOT. The Musical Surroundings Phonomena did get warm. This was just a temp setup. It was all good when said and done.
