    Cool, thanks Steve!

    I have a couple of specific ones:

    1) If you had a live stereo recording recorded at a very low level, would you EQ first and then normalize, or would you raise the level first - to something close to 0dB peak - and then EQ?

    2) If you were mixing 2 stereo sources of a live recording for a final mix (let’s say 1 soundboard L/R and 1 audience or stage L/R), would you EQ them individually to sound the best they can and THEN mix, or would you mix the raw recordings at a proper ratio and then EQ the final mix?

    how often if ever Mr Hoffman do you use mid/side mastering techniques ?

    Forgot to mention, these would be digital recordings in my hypothetical situation, and all editing would be done in the digital domain - if that matters

    In that case, leave some headroom for any additive EQ you may use (boosts, as opposed to cuts).
