    It just gets worse.

Last year I documented a crazy incident in which I tried to reimburse a seller who had not been paid because a disk that seemed to have gone missing eventually arrived though long after the expected date.

Notices about shipping situations have become totally flakey... The shipments nearly always arrive ok, which is good, but info about Getting ready for sending, or expected dates for delivery often are Hit-or-miss

A week or so ago a tab asked me to express what I thought could be improved. "Tell us how we can improve."

Took a few minutes with the usual - list cd contents, purge those wrong reviews for movies or cds. Searches that produce numerous copies of the same listing are a real waste of time and electrons. No reply on that one yet....

Some weeks earlier this year, I posted a review of one of those bizarro listings with a monstrous price, and got a notice advising me they couldn’t accept it.

    Herewith the correspondence.

I had received one of those emails "You might be interested ..."

My post Why would Amazon think I might be interested in paying a high-way robbery price for this cd?

The email reply : Thank you for submitting a customer review on Amazon. After carefully reviewing your submission, your review could not be posted to the Web site. While we appreciate your time and comments, reviews must adhere to the following guidelines:

A few common issues to keep in mind:

Your review should focus on specific features of the product and your experience with it. Feedback on the seller or your shipment experience should be provided at www.amazon.ca/feedback.

We do not allow profane or obscene content. This applies to adult products too.

Advertisements, promotional material or repeated posts that make the same point excessively are considered spam.

Please do not include URLs external to Amazon or personally identifiable content in your review.

Any attempt to manipulate Community content or features, including contributing false, misleading, or inauthentic content, is strictly prohibited.

    It reads more like...

"Post reviews we want or pee off. Your actual views mean nothing to us as we're so big and control just about everything by this point."

PhantomStranger and John B Good like this.

...which is particularly interesting, since I just checked again, and see my review on Aurora's new CD is still on there. It's really one short paragraph about the CD itself, and 75% about detailing chapter and verse, the blundering experience I had with Customer Service, charging that they lied to me twice in an hour-long chat (during which time I was passed along to NINE DIFFERENT PEOPLE!), never read my claims, and misinterpreted them, and the last guy told me outright he was going to give me five dollars - and never followed through with it! So, this smackdown of their own company is allowed to stand, and you can't get your review allowed because it doesn't sing hosannas about the product?! Something is very rotten in the walls of Bezos.

Is this a twilight zone thing? From my post here last year -" That's when I really entered some of the rings of hell. Fortunately, although I have never done a Chat with Amazon over a problem before, I did ask to be sent a transcript of what happened. Including the message which I initially sent the record of that transcript is now 3 pages long in my word processing record of the event. And included 9 different Amazon personalities, many of whom repeated this obviously stock phrase "Please give me a moment to review the previous correspondence" and then passed me on to another. There was much repeating of requests for information that I had already provided. This process took about an hour. As no solution had been suggested, I closed with : 02:30 PM PDT __ _____: When this is sorted out, could I please be advised by email. I cannot stay on this any longer, I have to go out now. Thanks John B"

Could it be the same Nine People?!

  5. It's the same script each poorly trained customer rep is given for interacting with customers. You have to escalate the situation to someone with real authority and experience at Amazon, which is getting tougher and tougher with each passing year.

Amazon has simply grown too big and powerful to worry about these things anymore. They don't need your money because they have millions of other customers.
