They are commonly owned for the most part, so this should have happened much sooner.

Star Trek fans should be happy, as Paramount (Viacom) controls the movies while CBS controls all TV shows, past and present. The other thing to watch for is whether this enables Paramount to share their content via the Movies Anywhere platform. At present I believe that they and Sony (including the James Bond series) are the only holdouts, meaning that purchased content is only viewable on the app (Vudu, iTunes, etc.) that the movie was registered through.

  5. The Corporate Wars they talked about on Rollerball (1975) are starting!!!

I wonder if CBS will be back on Direct TV as they have been missing almost all summer.

They also own Paramount. But most of Viacom’s stuff is trash. If they would air old MTV from like the first 10 years or so with all the original videos, vj’s joke commercials/promos with all music rights intact and with Beavis And Butthead then they might have a little something. As for CBS they could do a deal with David Letterman although Peacock may still have them beat on that as NBC had his early years which may of had more funny things going on throughout the show. Neat for people who like nostalgia and new to anyone who missed it the first time or kids today who weren’t around then.

  14. That’s why owning the Paramount vault and CBS vault is valuable to them. For Sumner content was king.
