Yep. Getting a bit frustrating to find new releases, but still doing it.

Mostly LPs, but yes, the odd cd here and there.

Absolutely. I find absolute steals on the used dollar menu at the local record store these days (as more people migrate from CD to streaming).

    Yes.
I mainly purchase CDs as they are the best value IMO. Manufacturers and retailers have decided to gouge vinyl buyers so I buy little new vinyl, mainly playing my older LPs that I have purchased over the years.

    anyway, CD? Yes!

Still finding dozens at the local thrifts, for next to nothing. Its hard for me to justify spending on a new record for $20+ when the cds are so cheap. I do treat myself to a new record sometimes tho, something that i really like.

Yes, if they are M-, cost $1 to $2 used, and a desired album. Same with used M- LPs.

I already have all the music I desire. Almost all anyway.

Yes. Every time I see something that I may like, as long as it is a buck or less.

My new car does not have a CD player, so I've stopped looking for CD's.

I used to average 2 - 3 a week. Now just a few a year. Not that I don't like them; I just have too much to listen to already.

I have been buying the “Best Of” packages this past year. I must have bought 200 new CDs at the least.

fmfxray373 Capitol LPs in the 70s were pretty good.

Yes even though I have been buying lots of LPs. When albums like Neil's Way Down In The Rust Bucket and Weezer's OK Human are on CD I have to buy them.

I’m always buying used CDs, my local thrift has been great, sadly it’s closing soon. Last month I purchased 175+ discs there, all really good stuff. The prices varied depending on whatever sale they had going, but it averaged out to under $2 a disc. That only happens when a few people happen to dump large collections.

I had so much music to get through that I didn’t go back until last Sunday. I work from home, so play music all day long. Even as the thrift nears it’s end, I still found six CDs!

I've a friend who does that ..he looks for nice designs as he uses them as drinks coasters ...which he says doubles their uses as 'perfect sound forever' was promised ...

Yep, have been buying a lot of CDs online during the pandemic. (Amazon, eBay and Discogs are still the Big Three websites for me.) A mix of new and used CDs.

Have only been inside a record store once during the pandemic -- Music Millennium in Portland, Ore., in December, a few weeks before Christmas. It was busy there, even with the number of people limited in the store at any one time. There was a line outside to get in.

My tastes in music are broad and I have the collector mentality, so I doubt I'll be slowing down anytime soon.

Yes, but only if there’s no alternative. I prefer streaming via Spotify or my NAS.

In all seriousness since i've discovered the Three Blind Mice label that Craftman Recordings are re-issuing their Supreme 1500 series particularly of 1970/80s recorded Jazz ...i've really been buying them as i can find them ... these are new... not pre-loved ..and imported from Japan so not cheap although way much less than finding a mint or nr mint record (vinyl) of the same recording and to my ears they are so well manufactured / produced / mastered that they really push towards record quality ...on my digital set up.. so i think that cds are here to stay for at least a large minority who like physical media

...or in many cases albums aren't available to stream ...i do find it frustrating that sometimes i can find the music to stream but i can't see which version the album is ..no info about mastering engineer or source etc .... unless i'm missing something ...?? i use spotify and amazon

The CD case was interesting in the early days when there was subtle design changes. Some of us use that fact to our advantage.

I’m not quite sure of that... they’re the most durable in usage, but I don’t think they’re the most durable in storage, unless you have the gold ones.
I have some early 80s CDs that have started flaking off the edges of the foil already.

Some get like that. Some are bronzed (UK PDO). Some won't play/rip (specific era JVC). But the vast majority are ok (and some of mine date from the earliest period of 1982/83).

Thats no worry .. simply contact Philips or Sony either will do as they guarantee "perfect sound forever" well that's the phrase they launched them with ....i remember i was there and saw on tv and in record shops the big posters proclaiming it .....big multinationals wouldn't lie about such things would they ???

As an aside i luckily don't have and cds that seem to be flaking ...but if i do i'll be reaching out to Sony/Philips ..

Always on the lookout for CDs. Nothing past 1992.
