You mastered Joe Meek's recordings? Very nice! I'll have to listen. Were they hard to master?

Being a mastering engineer is a fabulous job. I love your mastering techniques by the way.

Ah yes, the one with all the bad distortion. :sigh: Hearing the original MONO mix for the first time was a revelation.

Several years ago there was a movie about Joe Meek's life. He was responsible for some fascinating stuff. A sad end.

I have "Shotgun" on a Jr. Walker CD. Don't think its mono. If there is a better version I'd like to find it. Which version did Steve remaster?

I’ve seen parts of it, some are just too disgusting for me to watch. Joe and Mrs. Shenton’s death scene was just tragic.

I really wish we could find a not futz'd-with version of Moon's song without the slow down and reverb

Notice how they work that one mic? Neat.

Also notice the out of phase splash of reverb? Should be hitting you way beyond the speakers you're listening on..

WSM should have shut up about the Castle Studios engineers moonlighting for Castle Studios. They were the true founders of Music City, USA.

Shotgun in Stereo is neutered and lifeless. Tamla-Motown UK Mono rules. On CD, Hitsville USA Box Volume 1, is as good as you can get.

Sounds like the "hi fi" is in a bathroom down the hall.

Before the pandemic hit, we had started playing this tune in my band. Good to remember it.
