I can understand buying Big Blue boxes until you are satisfied with your exclusive film frame. I can also see trying to get Big Blue boxes that have film frames in exact sequence, so that you can restore a sense of motion (what, maybe 30 boxes? or many more?)
Not sure how the superbowl reference got in here....but that was the most boring Superbowl ever. Lackluster game, boring half time show, mediocre ads.
Not to get too off topic but wouldn’t it be great for the next massive big box to be one show from each tour from 1988 through 2018. 30 years of the Never Ending Tour. Each of thirty shows on two discs would bring us another 60 disc box (62 if you count the bonus discs for the extra show by ordering direct from BobDylan.com). I’d be all in.
They could do that annually for the next 90 years, until we get (almost) all of the shows, at least to 2018. When will the release date for Volume 90 in the year 2108 be?
Only 1 copy of the six and 1 copy of the two? I thought you were a serious fan, Percy. I thought you were dedicated.
I should've remembered to include the single CD version, too.... And this one, which contains several snippets not found on any of "The Cutting Edge" releases:- #
If you are like me, that second copy of Big Blue is your "car copy". It has a seat belt and air bag of its own. My wife does not mind sitting in the rear seat. But sometimes we swap places so I can lean back, close my eyes and just be at the sessions
Now that scans of these certificates are out there, we might be seeing hundreds of copies of #3137 and #3253 hitting the market from a dealer somewhere
I despise duplicate purchases through reissues and the like, which is why I consider multi-sized release options with some deliberation. But as with the Basement Tapes, my 2-cd selection of Cutting Edge started to fail my increasing appetite for extended listening of this superb material - and MBMT aptly demonstrated that repetitive track listings were anything but an obstacle to repeated play. Kicked myself for failing to buy when XII Deluxe was $72 w/ coupon (koopen, in my best scotch soaked Ron White stage voice) a bit ago, so here's redemption for the negligible statistical minority on SHF that doesn't own a copy - or maybe 6: $75 on Amazon https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B015JXIA4K/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00__o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Passing on Big Blue was a regrettable decision. Sometimes, I recall the time I passed on it at a Disk Union store in Shinjuku thinking the asking price (about $100 above retail, iirc) was too high. I should have bought it.
Along with the essays of @Roger Ford which continue to be updated on a regular basis and now include (credited) additional information contained in the excellent book by @Daryl Sanders ... The Cutting Edge, Collector's Edition #
