That last shot could be every day around my workplace!

Since we know that you and Kevin have worked together on and off since 1982, I am sure you both have it down to a science by now.

By gar, those Creedence LP's you guys did sound so wonderful, I'm sure these 45 RPM titles will be the new reference for all jazz mastering from now on!

I noticed, too, that Steve mastered to disc an album by double bass virtuoso Gary Karr.

It must be tough being the worlds best double bassist. Not too many original pieces for you to solo on. Still easier than being the world's best tubist.

I have a friend who's a stand up bass player; he used to get excited when Karr soloed with orchestras in new york.

 

WOW STEVE!! When I was in High School back in the 70s I did a research paper on how albums were made. The encyclopedia photos and info. pale in comparison to those shots. Thanks!!!

 

That looks like a load of fun to me Steve. Demanding work sure, but fun! Thanks for showing the Bill Evans tape. Boy, that's my top favorite album of all genres ever. Anyway, what a trip hearing that on 45 will be!

 

Thanks for the warning, Steve. I better stop buying vinyl for a while out of the used bins! Plenty to feast on in the future!

If these go sucessful, I'd love to see what could be done on some rock titles at 45RPM! Wonderful stuff!

Thanks so much for sharing some of your work with us in pictures. Certainly looks more interesting than my job, that's for sure!

Interesting how these tape boxes end up looking like walls covered in graffitti after being re-mastered so many times!

Just curious. What ARE those handwritten paragraphs on the back of the Bill Evans/Village Vanguard tape box? Not mastering notes; no numbers, etc. Can you share?

 

I can read some of it. Mentions just where to fade out ... Was there anything else? Can you read that?

"Fade Out IN Applause, very end" and other details on the cuts themselves, and they point to each cut. I can barely read the rest, but it doensn't look like EQ settings. Those might be in the box, not outside.
