Poll - Do you like drum solos?

    The only drum solo I ever heard live that I like came from an unlikely source: Fito de la Parra of Canned Heat.

    I saw them in a small club in the mid-70s. Bear was still with them at the time, but no other original members.

    What made the solo good is that Fito never abandoned the rhythm of the song the solo appeared in, but rather kept it up throughout and played against it — as opposed to the usual practice of ignoring any pretext that a song is being played at all and taking off on a flight of self-indulgent, arhythmic wanking.

    I understand the first approach is more common in jazz drum solos, but it's something you rarely hear in rock.
