Going to see it this weekend.

If it turns people on to The Beatles music, what could possibly be wrong??

Saw it with with a bunch of friends (incl. one who’s also a die hard Beatles fanatic) and we loved it. Funny, light, nails the premise. A yes from me.

Then you mean in the original version :D

  6. Sorry. In France VO means the film is its original language. I dont like watching English films in French. Just does not feel right.

    It's a Danny Boyle, so it's a must see.

No need to be sorry, just having you on. VO ne se dit pas du tout en anglais.

You know, Cordon's got enough Xs there to share some with Sheeran. Danny Boyle, I don't have a problem with. He's made some good films, so I guess he can make some mistakes too.

Anyway, this thing"s a big NO WAY for me. Anyone who likes it can have it, but its not gonna get my 10 dollars OR my 2 hours.

Ill probably wait for dvd to see this one. I think its interesting that the movie takes for granted that the beatles catalog would catapult a nobody to instant success.

I think like all music its a product of its time. I think its begs the question would the beatles be as well received today ?

Just a thought. Im sure most beatles fans would think so.

It's ok. All of the characters are a-holes at the start of the film and remain so to the end. There's no character development and no-one to like and no shocks. The Treasure Of The Sierra Madre it is not.

I didn't feel it did take that for granted. There's a lot of little steps in the process (including Ed Sheeran and his big-time manager and record company).

Yes, this was the problem I had with the original concept. The idea that the music would be huge without the 4 personalities involved, and in another time and place, is crazy. But if you can get past that, it is an enjoyable movie.

So basically the film is about a Beatles tribute act? - No thanks.

I'd say the missed opportunity for the film would've been if he sang "Revolution", and people on the internet take it all wrong, and he becomes a pariah!
    "..social commentary, that is."

That might just be the issue!

If it had been anybody else, I might just bless it with the benefit of doubt. As it is, I'm of the opposite thought. It doesn't mean it couldn't be good, just that it probably won't be.

I hadn't considered the possibility of it being a Beatles gateway drug. Need to get my wife and kids there....
