Yes, this. I've yet to come across any album on here that isn't more disdained than loved. And it seems to not even matter the artist! Or the album...
For me, this week it's something by John Fahey. But I only started listening to him last week. So, ask me again next week.
where it all started for so many fans; Meet The Beatles...this one of the most important albums to hit America.
Moving Pictures Nowhere else can you find the diversity of songwriting all brilliantly evocative combined with astonishing musicianship by every member of the band, who still then somehow manage to layer and create something even better than the sum of those astonishing parts. It was unlike anything heard before and nobody's been able to come close ever since. Just straight up superhuman in every possible way.
Art? Art Pepper Meets the Rhythm Section, a perfect example of the genius of absolutely casual jazz album making. Grab your (damaged) horn, get high, show up at the appointed rime for the one and only session, let the band who you've never played with before call the tunes, play 'em by ear from the memory of having heard 'em sometime/somewhere, nail it.
I DO know objectively what the greatest album of all time is!.. Just trying to remember the name.. It had a gatefold cover, detailed liner notes, at least three ripping guitar solos (that don't run too long - or they might have been keyboard solos too..) plus a lead singer with a distinctive but not too highly pitched voice. Oh, and it had super-cool lyrics that were rebellious, but not too far out there, y'know?.. Yep - that album. Just can't remember the name. It's on the tip of my tongue. Anyone remember it?
Nah, just to kill rock star worship and an obsession with technical capabilities as the be all end all. Turns out Steve Jones was actually a guitarist capable of a signature sound though in spite of himself. And Lydon was a spectacularly bizarre yet charismatic frontman.
I agree. We can only observe the correlation between the musical quality and what an album has started. In my opinion, it is Sgt.Pepper, taking into account the circumstances and time in which it was created & released and what influence it had on both Underground music and the mainstream at the time.
wow very unexpected, I didn't think many people knew of this band. You know it contains one song written by Bolland brothers, same guys who wrote Falco's Amadeus
Yes I knew it one's of best album song, I think same as you - not popular band - I buyed japanese Zero Corporation CDs of both albums and they have epic sound. (I recommended 100%)
Who’s Next is my choice for the GOAT of albums. It’s not it’s fault it’s been overexposed by ads, tv shows and USFM
