Today I benefited from ffracer's post in which he mentioned that he left an early Boz Scaggs CD on the shelves at a local store.

I thought it might be useful to try to maintain a thread in which we all post potentially collectible CDs we didn't buy that might be interesting to other forum members.

Just list the title of the CD and identifying characteristics (target, black triangle, country of pressing, etc.) as well as the location and name of the store.

Maybe this won't go anywhere, but I think it could be helpful for folks here!

    My contribution for today:

Woodbridge VA - 2nd and Charles
Laura Branigan - "Self Control" WG target
Left it on the "bargain" wall

Silver Spring MD - Joe's Record Paradise
Laurie Anderson - "Mr. Heartbreak" WG target
Left it in the "Laurie Anderson" area

BTW, if Gorts feel this thread belongs somewhere other than "Music", go ahead and move it!

    Cool idea for a thread.

I saw (and left) a Lone Justice S/T Japan target at the Record & Tape Traders in Towson, MD last week. Almost grabbed it as part of their buy 2, get the third for $1... but it was my fourth choice, so it stayed in the new arrivals section

Crud - I'd love that one but not sure if I can justify the drive to Towson! Any chance I can convince you to snag it and I'll buy it from you?

Sure, I will pick it up next time I'm there if it's still available, though that may not be for a week or so.

There are a load of unremastered Led Zepellin albums on the shelves in the used CD store at the top of Granville St in Vancouver, reasonably priced.

That's cool - just let me know. That's the other reason I'm loathe to make the drive - I'd be cheesed if it wasn't still there! :D

  9. It really belongs into the Marketplace Discussion. I'll move it but leave a redirect for a few days.

Coincidentally I left a related post on another forum subpage a few days ago.

Doesn't appear to be much traffic there.

Define "the top of Granville St." and which store instead of the generic "in the used CD store" please? Thx

At the large Half Price Books in Dallas (loop 12) I left Japanese targets of Clapton's Behind the Sun and Talking Heads' Little Creatures. They also had an early J for US 38 Special CD in a smooth case. Don't recall the title. Also at that location are several early classical Deutche Grammophone CDs in smooth and ridged cases.

At the Half Price in Plano on Preston, there were Japanese pressings of a couple of Genesis albums in smooth cases.

I haven't been to the Plano location since they moved...last attempt to go, I went to the old location, not knowing they had moved...ironically, I took Preston back home, but never saw the HPB.

was thinking of heading there Saturday, but may pass, since Genesis is not my cup of tea...or I may hit Lewisville instead

this is a great thread idea...but so was Ralph's early-pressing cd trade thread, and that didn't exactly light a flame :shh:

Well, it doesn't hurt to try! :) As long as a few of us keep it going, it'll prove to be worthwhile, methinks....

If you'd like. It's not essential - unless the CD is priced at "collector's prices" - but it'd be nice to have!

I did hit the Lewisville location, as promised...sort of...got the Amy Grant collection, Club Epic 12 inch collection, and a 2nd copy of Steve's smooth grooves vol. 3...and I left behind AC/DC "who made who" in the $2 bin...it's scratched, I would have taken the chance, except I have most of the songs already, on early pressings...made in Japan

J&R Music in New York, NY today had a used copy of Pink Floyd "Dark Side of the Moon" Immersion for 39.99. Looked to have everything in it. They have some used bins to the right as you walk in and the box sets are on a shelf above the CD bins.

I left an original(non-remastered) UK CD of The Wall on the shelves of Freebird Records Wicklow Street Dublin. I already have it. I think its under €10.

The FYE at the Gallery in Philadelphia has an early U2 War made in Japan in the original smooth sided case.

If the original poster ribors has not been able to purchase the Lone Justice Japan target CD for you, I have an extra for you for a reasonable price. Just send me a private message if you were not able to get one from ribors.
