I guess I may have to branch out a bit and try it. But I love Highland Park.

I need to take a look at the manual. It is very thin sounding, no punch or oomph at all. Heck, my Sonos Play 1's sound better as well.

I am more a bourbon fan than Scotch. The Lagavulin was a gift from a friend.

My Marantz, tho a Reference model, has all the punch and dynamics I need. Treble as well and a great mid-section...and its supper transparent. Its a really refine sound. Im sure yours just has to run in.

No decent scotch on hand, but I'll tip an IPA your way and wish you well ... latest from William Doyle on the table, Bear Republic Racer 5 IPA setting the mood ...

His ears may have to catch up with the Marantz. Right now he is adjusting to a different new sound from the Vincent. Once he sorts it out and the amp runs in he probably will enjoy it.

The William Doyle record is really nice, one of the best of the year for me so far, as you can see in my signature line... Best New Albums of 2021

I remember that one from back in the day. I remember back in the day enjoying rocking out to Deep Purple's Rainbow album.....I think it was in 1972 or 73.

It starts to come alive at a loud volume. Running between 75 and 80dB from my listening chair and sounding decent. It is very thin at low volume so hopefully will improve with time. I know a lot of this is psychological.

I think you also have treble and bass knobs...don't be afraid to use them.

The bass is at approximately at 75% and unfortunately, no loudness button on this amp. For now will just keep it cranked up. My wife doesn't get home for several hours :)

The amp may just need to run in and ears have to get use to a new sound..at least that's what I've experienced in the past with new gear.

The CD input on this Marantz has an input buffer amp, sounds noticeably better than the other inputs, give it a try.

I gave it a brief try using it via my Denafrips Ares II with the new GD Dave's Picks 38 and it sounded really bad. I will try using my Rotel CD11 with the internal DAC and PM8006 CD input tomorrow with some CD's that I am familiar with.
