Bill Nace & Jon Collin(2 huge favorite guitarists of mine)-Recorded Live At Brickbeat Books, Philadelphia, 14 April 2019...Edition of 70 CDR(6 remaining!) or a download through Bandcamp. Highly recommended!
By coincidence, I bought this a couple days ago. Would love the Eastman disc. Doesn't appear to be on Amazon yet. There are precious few recordings of his works, but they're growing in number rapidly.
Thanks man, is it a CDR? Here's another performance of Feminine. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Femenine-J...+Julius+Eastman&qid=1569708169&s=music&sr=1-2
Duly ordered! Still Way (Wave Notation 2), by Satoshi Ashikawa Both were a part of the Wave Notation series, which also included Satsuki Shibano's Erik Satie (France 1866-1925): Wave Notation Hiroshi Yoshimura — fromheretillnow
T.G. Olson - The Complete Blood Meridian For Electric Drone Guitar -- in which a bloke improvises hellish soundscapes scored to Cormac McCarthy's violent and hallucinatory Western novel Blood Meridian. Each track represents a chapter of the book, apparently. Expect lots of solo electric guitar and feedback, occasionally with some acoustic guitar and other effects. Over four hours worth! Gunna be a long night. "Name Yer Price" lossless download from Bandcamp. --Geoff
Chock full of big fuzzed out distorted guitar. Sounds like Neil Young jamming on Old Black as the sun goes down at Monument Valley. Not atonal or particularly avant-garde, except for the epic length. I read the book recently but dunno how the music relates to it except in a general 'lonely desert blues' aspect. Big thumbs up from me. But you can stream or download from Bandcamp for nowt and judge fer yerself. --Geoff
Fabulous twofer putting together the first 2 CD-era compilations, Sugar Fish Drink and Large Ladies With Cake In The Over. Perfect introduction to Steven Stapleton's universe. Also has a couple of edits and mixes unavailable elsewhere (outside of the original CD editions, that is).
Astral Plane Crash Henry Kaiser’s trio with Damon Smith & Weasel Walter merged with Vinny Golia & Ra Kalam Bob Moses Sounding amazing so far. Looks like a 44 minute piece followed by a 35 minute piece.
Si...tonight I went to Cafe Oto to listen to John Tilbury perform John Cages's Sonatas and Interludes for prepared piano. It's not a piece I've heard before being a bit of a novice where Cage is concerned so was unprepared for the sounds that I heard. Wonderful. I've just bought a reissue of Tilbury's 1974 performance of it on Ebay. And I got to talk to the pianist afterwards...
I was lucky enough to hear Tilbury play these pieces in Glasgow about 8-9 years ago, preceded by an interview in which he came across as thoroughly likeable. Also got to hear him play Triadic Memories sometime around the late 90's (I think maybe '99).
