There are two dates - June 12 and July 17. TFF is part of the first batch. You don't have a location listed in your profile but guessing from your username, you're in Canada? Then you should inform yourself here: Record Store Day Canada I suppose it's possible to ask your store to keep one copy for you or something. Either that or maybe it's possible to order from the Rough Trade link posted earlier. (I never participated in RSD either, just my guesses, probably incorrect anyway looking at the post below mine...)
It's luck of the draw. They aren't allowed to hold stuff so you have to be there early and line up or hope and pray they don't sell out before you show up. If you really want it, it's best to get there early. But ask your local shop how they are handling the day this year (Covid). Of course there is still the chance that your store may not get any.
At this point I'm not planning on enduring RSD lines just to get this on CD. The CD version isn't even listed on the US RSD site; the LP is 3500. Hopefully the general CD release will happen down the line.
The RSD CD seems UK-exclusive. Unless we make some sort of TFF fan magic happen, I'm also counting on the regular CD release.
I’m a little more interested in the cd, and I don’t wanna leave work early on monday to get the LP, so I’m gonna see if I can get one on discogs, sure it might be more costly but I’m in the USA.
Beginning around 3:55 in this video, Paul Sinclair showcases this release and even explains the 2 missing tracks. He also shows off the CD and flips through the booklet!! Sadly no mention of a general release later but maybe he's not allowed to say... SDE’s 2021 Record Store Day video preview #2 – SuperDeluxeEdition
Was just about to post this. Does he say there are only two copies of the CD for RSD? Ah no, forget that last sentence. Just re-listened. I misunderstood.
I really can't believe this is not getting a general release, all they are doing is feeding ebay flipping
As with all things TFF, I will take it with a grain of salt until I have it in my hands. "It's definitely getting a general release" is the same thing as saying "TFF's new album will be released on [insert numerous old dates here]." On the other hand, the Seeds box finally did happen for real, so I will be optimistic!
hence my love/hate relationship with TFF… If I don’t get a copy I may need some primal therapy and will change my username to JeffMo As Opiates!
Exactly why does Paul Sinclair get a copy in advance? Since when is his Amazon affiliated shop considered an indie Record Store?!?
Any word if they are working on the film/video of Massey 1985 for a DVD/Blu release? Surprised 2 songs are gone if they recorded multiple nights.
He's got the industry connections. Also, this is promo material for RSD, so it's not like he's just snagged these for his own personal collection. Maybe he'll have a giveaway with some of them. I wish I knew. As has been talked about here, audio recordings actually exist in form of radio broadcasts. But consider this: We have no idea if they even filmed the full set.
