It's at 15-16 seconds into song, really obvious, sounds like parts of another track just cuts right into the song.

(Post #473 & 484 on this thread mentions it)

Haha! Still, it's only 2 weeks. If I don't think about it more than absolutely necessary I'll be fine!

Thanks. I think I hear it on my amazon.de copy: two stray guitar notes, followed by a third, in the right channel only.

I guess I'll review this thread to figure out how to get a replacement disk from amazon.de.

Leider, dass mein Deutsch so schlecht ist.

This just is how mine sounds, like bass notes actually. But above I thought the very credible Mike D'Aversa posted that the song jumped ahead at that point.

All those who have it, what's your thoughts on the packaging (beyond the cd's being hard to get out)? Is there much worthwhile in the liners we didn't know before? Cool pictures never seen?

The book that comes with box is loaded with pictures with a year by year theme which I thought was pretty cool, plenty that I had never seen before, some which I had. The essay is so-so and a few write ups by famous musicians on how they were influenced by the band, all of which were IMO not all that interesting besides Pete Townshends. But besides the defective cd and access issues, I was pretty happy . Would of been happier which a single disc of all the unreleased stuff though :)

It has loads of VERY cool pictures, many of which I have never seen before. I'm very happy with the booklet and with the previously unreleased recordings and mixes.

This is what I hope will be a complete list of tracks on the box which are not on either the deluxe CDs (the 2CD versions of Kinks, Kinda Kinks, Kontroversy, Face To Face, Something Else, Arthur, and Lola, and the 3CD Village Green Preservation Society) or The Kinks At The BBC.

Rarities not identified as rarities in the booklet are in bold.

Let me know what I missed or got wrong.

    DISC ONE:
    10. Beautiful Delilah (alternate mono mix) - also on The Kinks In Mono
    12. I'm A Lover, Not A Fighter (alternate mono mix) - also on The Kinks In Mono
    21. Come On Now (alternate mix) - also on Picture Book but this has much better sound (but it is only take 4, while Picture Book also has takes 2 and 3)
    29. Who'll Be The Next In Line (session excerpt - backing track take 1)
    30. Who'll Be The Next In Line (alternate mix)
    33. Interview: Clay Cole Meets The Kinks

    DISC TWO:
    5. Tell Me Now So I'll Know (alternate demo) - previously booted but this sounds better than my copy
    21. Dedicated Follower Of Fashion (session excerpt - takes 1-3)
    24. She's Got Everything (backing track take 2)
    25. She's Got Everything (alternate mono mix)

    DISC THREE:
    11. Big Black Smoke (alternate stereo mix)
    12. Mr. Pleasant (first time stereo)
    13. This Is Where I Belong (alternate stereo mix)
    14. Village Green (alternate stereo mix)
    15. Two Sisters (alternate stereo mix)
    16. Waterloo Sunset (session excerpt - backing track take 2)
    18. Act Nice And Gentle (first time stereo)
    19. Harry Rag (session excerpt)
    20. Harry Rag (alternate stereo mix)
    21. Death Of A Clown (alternate stereo mix)
    24. Tin Soldier Man (alternate stereo mix)
    - possibly the same mix as the PRT Something Else, but it seems a little narrower here (and includes the full intro)
    25. Afternoon Tea (alternate stereo mix)
    26. Funny Face (alternate stereo mix)
    27. Lazy Old Sun (alternate stereo mix)
    28. Susannah's Still Alive (alternate stereo mix)
    29. Good Luck Charm (first time stereo)

    DISC FOUR:
    3. Rosemary Rose (first time stereo)
    6. Lincoln County (alternate stereo mix)
    7. Did You See His Name? (alternate stereo mix)
    8. Days (session excerpt)
    9. Days (alternate stereo mix)
    10. Misty Water (alternate stereo mix)
    13. Johnny Thunder (session excerpt) - 12 seconds of studio chatter, only 8 seconds of which is new
    14. Johnny Thunder (alternate stereo mix) - similar to the 2004 remix but with different instrument placement (and it's not just that the channels are reversed)
    17. Starstruck (alternate stereo mix)
    18. Pictures In The Sand - first time on CD
    24. Berkeley Mews (alternate stereo mix)
    25. Till Death Us Do Part - first time on CD
    31. Reprise US Tour Spot

    DISC FIVE:
    (none)

    BONUS 45:
    1. You Really Got Me (live)
    2. Milk Cow Blues (live)

do we have any idea of the origins of the "alternate stereo remixes"? Are they vintage, or 2014?

Just announced on their facebook page:

Wonder what sources will be used for cutting and mastering. Guess these will be hi-res digital.
The 2LP versions of face to face, something else and arthur for RSD a few years back were digital but sounded very nice.

    The announcement reads:
"The Kinks vinyl reissues of their first 3 albums out Monday! Face to Face and Something Else released Dec 22nd. Arthur and Village Green out in the new year."

Late me translate that for you from Kinks into English:

"The Kinks vinyl reissues of their first 3 albums out Next Friday! Face to Face and Something Else released late next year. Arthur and Village Green will be forgotten about until you think this campaign has been quietly canceled and then we will release them sometime in 2016 with little to no fanfare."

    :)

It would be nice if they put out a compilation as well featuring all the best singles, b-sides and ep tracks that are not on the albums.

My Anthology is on its way from deep discount to my house - hopefully it will be here on the release date of Dec 15.

I'd also like to know which of the new stereo mixes are vintage and which are new - is there any clue in the notes?

There are no clues in the notes. Andrew Sandoval indicated in this post that the Something Else mixes are from 1967.

  25. yeah there is a thread on this from a few weeks ago showing this ad. All mono plus Arthur stereo. If you buy from Amazon UK its the equivalents of around $27 each right now. If you buy at Amazon US they are imports at $47. Anyone know if they are being release as US domestics?
