Which one do you love more, your records or your audio gear?

I'd say my records...the audio gear is a close second though.

Records come first, if it's a choice between buying a collection or upgrading my deck, the deck can wait, though it's good to try and have a balance if possible.

Probably my records but I don't really have the most amazing setup. I've just got the Project Essential 2 going into some powered bookshelf style speakers really. Though there is an A/V switcher between it and the speakers so I can switch between it/ the blu-ray player and a PS3.

Records, definitely more invested in the source.

Absolutely records for me. Nothing can compare to playing a pristine vintage lp while relaxing and reading the album cover details. I have purchased and sold some really nice equipment over the years but it just doesn't excite me the way I feel when I find a rare lp. I have albums that I would never think about selling.

Since neither is worth a damn without the other, it’s a push.

I will say that it would be much more difficult to replace the collection

Doubt anyone would choose the gear over the music. Doesn't mean we don't LOVE our gear!;)

Both. I love the way my records sound on my audio system.

I choose whatever I bought last. This week it was gear. I choose Gear for now as I have only been collecting records again for a little over a year. And I think most all of them are pretty replaceable. My gear is worth more also. And it looks cool.

  17. i think it is; i love my music: it is, perhaps, however, enhanced by my system. When i listen to music i love on the radio for example, i dont feel the same. Weird but true

I'd much rather listen to good music on "bad gear" than bad or dull music on a million system. Which is fortunate since a million dollar system is out of reach (and of little interest in any case) and good music plentiful when you keep an open mind !

The playback abilities of mass-market junk usually surpass the recording quality of most of today’s pop music garbage. What was the question again?

Records before the gear. You can replace the set up, but those records.... If snything was to happen they're gone for good and irreplaceable.

I look at it like film and a projector. The projector is useless without the celluloid. So uh... RECORDS!

I’ve had some of my records for well over 40 years, in that time I’ve had a multitude of different audio setups.

    It’s the records.
