I recently received a gift, a poster called "Guitar Heaven" and it has, what someone thought, are illustrations of the iconic guitars in rock history.

Half of them I wasnt familiar with. That doesnt mean they arent iconic, .. but I wanted to know what others thought the list should be.

Only one rule here, ONE guitar per player. Thats it. This is all subjective, no right or wrong, so Let it rip, tater chip.

    Mine

Bo Diddley - Square box guitar, not sure what this was
    Van Halen - frankenstrat
    Brian May - Big red
Jerry Garcia - custom alembic altho I know there were more than one
Billy Gibbons - the furry explorer

then you can make a case for guys who played one guitar for enough public appearances that they sort of defined that model, in your opinion -

for example, there were too many guys playing traditionally styled les pauls and SGs and straight up strats and teles and ricks for me to list one -

Michael Hedges - harp guitar - not sure if he was well known enough to define this but I never saw anybody else play one
    Jimmy Page - Doubleneck SG
Alvin Lee - red ES 335 with stickers
Randy Rhoades - flying V with polka dots
Eric Clapton - The Fool SG
Jack White - Airliner or National or whatever those things are
Johnny Winter - Firebird - I list this because I almost never saw anybody else playing one, back in the day
Steve Howe - ES 175 - same thing - back then, nobody else that popular, played one
Neil Young - you could make a case for the Gretsch White Falcon and him, but others were playing it too.. or old black, but to me, that was just another old les paul.
Billy Zoom - silver sparkle Gretsch Jet - for years I never saw him with anything else and never saw another one anywhere

just a few off the top of my head. I'm sure there are many more. Anybody else?

no one is wrong here and all opinions are welcome

however, as I said, a straight ahead strat or SG or rick or whatever...

I mean for example stratocaster - you've hendrix, maybe the white one from woodstock or the flaming one from Monterrey - but you've also got Harrisons Rocky, SRVs Lenny, Gallaghers beat up model, Claptons Blackie, Buddy Guys polka dot thing... the list goes on and on....

SG, you've got Townsend, Angus, Iommi, Cippolini....

but anyway that just how I look at this.

You guys post whatever you feel.

This guitar is iconic and certainly the Neil Young guitar. As much photo pub the Whitel Falcon gets, I’d argue his lesser photographed orange 6120 had more miles put on it on the road and in the studio. But Old Black is the one.

I've seen other players with similar looking harp guitars. For example, Muriel Anderson has been playing one pretty much exclusively for quite a while now.

But I've never seen anyone with an electric harp guitar like the one Hedges used on Taproot:

(It also had a trans tremolo bar.)

    Prince has two iconic guitars:

    1. The cloud guitar.
He had them in various colours. The white one is the best known from the Purple Rain era. I prefer the peach SOTT version!

    2. The symbol guitar
In the 90s he made a symbol guitar. Also in multiple colours. Here’s a purple one from the Super Ball Halftime show:
