I’ve been following the thread and could be wrong but I don’t think he’s been mentioned yet. A bit of Sweet Thang from Freedom Flight in 1971
[QUOTE="rkt88, post: 20758385 i "miss" go go dancers HA[/QUOTE] Love this, but it feels too produced. Marvin with a bunch of white girls just happy to be being filmed. I understand Soul Train is similar but he seems much more in his element and damn if he ain’t a ladies man...
love it! ... was smooth as all getout. i wore that lp out in what 71??..but if it isnt EARLY marvin? i'm more of a got to give it up kinda fan
Hasn’t been a whole lot of International Soul. How about some African Soul.... Thanks Daptone Records for pulling this together. Trying to compile all these 45’s, while awesome, would be a monumental task.
Sticking to International Soul I can’t pass up an opportunity to mention the Brazilian Tim Maia. I’ll just share S1 T1 - the album is great:
A recommendation for something newer Nick Waterhouse – Nick Waterhouse Label: Innovative Leisure Records – IL2060 Format: CD, Album, Digipak Country: USA & Europe Released: 09 Mar 2019 Genre: Funk / Soul, Blues
While I lived and loved all the classic Soul and R&B that is mentioned I especially appreciate recommendations of newer music to discover.

Not sure if you guys are on Mixcloud but you should if not. If you search the Motor City Soul Club you’ll find some great Northern Soul setlists. There is a Soul Stomp that happens here in Detroit. Great Soul vinyl spinning and just letting loose and dancing. The set lists from these nights are captured here - anything from Dan Austin and Brad Hales is solid. A good listen for anyone into Northern Soul!!! Give it a shot - I’d be surprised if you didn’t dig it. If you know of any other good stuff like this please share!!!
I saw a post on another thread about Brian Auger, and it reminded me of this cool song by the Main Ingredient, "Happiness Is Just Around the Bend", also recorded by Brian Auger's Oblivion Express.
