Madonna's out of tune performance at Eurovision 2019

Though she was out of tune for much of her performance, I thought her voice on Like A Prayer was strong and clear. In a live setting she was never Linda Ronstadt... Go back as far as the Blonde Ambition tour and the majority of her vocals were rough as hell. The difference then was that she was putting on a much more energetic, dancey show.

Future was so autotuned it was impossible to tell what Madonna really sounded like...

 

I honesty don’t know why the UK bothers with Eurovision anymore. Our songs never fare well and none of the records ever seem to be hits. What’s the point of it?

At least in the 70s and 80s an act was guaranteed a top 20 hit at least with their entry. This was a lifesaver for Clodagh Rogers, Lynsey De Paul and the Shadows.

 

At least we know it was really her singing...

 

Some of it sounded mimed( when she wearing a hood at the beginning).

Kept on expecting her to fall down the steps.

The co -singer rap dude mentioned his mother liking Madonna.

 

Even with a good song the voting is rigged against the UK.

 

SeX sells apparently.

 

Michael Jackson would have blown her of the stage.

 

But it was still a treat to see a professional after hours of mediocrity.

The new voting system was extra cruel. You can only give your maximum 12 points to one country. Then just when the country thinks they’ve won it, then comes the people’s vote. The look of Sweden’s singer face was priceless. Every year I say I won’t watch this crap.

Freek win, anything but Italy.

 

Actually the UK song wasn't that bad at all. I guess if the singer had been a) slim and styled sexy or b) ridiculously overweight and styled weired his chances to get more points would have been better...

 

England gave you football ( or was that Scotland) The Beatles...then.

I don’t think it matters anymore in our case..

 

But she performed after TWENTY SIX other artists had done exactly that.

 

First time in years that I watched this show, my daughter (11) really was exited about this. So I stayed up with her and she liked the show and The Netherlands winning was a real thrill for her. But I had to explain who this pirate-woman was and why I had said I really liked her in the 80's............when she said the song Like a Prayer was boring, I only could agree with her. Today I will play her the original.........

 

The last time we entered a good song (and by good song, I mean one that I liked! ), we won.

Having said that, the good stuff (and there's always some good stuff at Eurovision) doesn't always float towards the top of the leaderboard.

 

Yeah well “good song “ you wouldn’t win these days. Scotland’s got a better chance if the opportunity happens.
