Nice to see you back. We missed your photos and comments.

Great gig from Bob and Neil. I was about four rows from the front, more or less dead centre. Best Bob performance for a long time(IMO).

Hey buddy. Bob was on fire. And the guards weren’t letting anyone snap away !! I was just to the left. Drove straight back to Dublin after.

"Which song do we know that needs absolutely zero rehearsal, Bob?".

I saw this is the first time since 94 they played together. I was there last time at roseland. Springsteen was there too. We were right up front.

Wonderful pictures, these really capture something of that Dylan mystique. Thank you for sharing.

I noticed Bob’s been opening his recent shows with Thin Man - is this the first time in a long time that he’s not opened the shows with Things Have Changed? Seems like a significant departure from the norm that’s not getting much notice. When was the last time he didn’t use THC as an opener?

Seen Dylan a lot over the years. The last time was the Palladium in 2017. What he is doing live now just doesn't interest me. Doesn't disappoint me, I just find it boring, and it certainly isn't built for big audiences (although after years of subjecting his audiences to concerts minus visuals, he's finally cottoned on, or at least accepted, use of big screens)so I passed on Hyde Park. Neil's set seemed the more interesting and it would have been great to hear the Ragged Glory tunes, plus Like An Inca and My, My, Hey, Hey from Kilkenny. The version of When The Circle...is terrible. Great as an event maybe, but on a musical level? Awful.

Let’s not get carried away - he opened the last two shows with “Thin Man”. The rest of the tour, i’m Pretty sure, was “Things Have Changed”. That was a little ironic because they hadn’t really.

Petridis came to the Guardian from, I think, MixMag. So he has more of a ‘dance’ background. He can write entertainingly on a wide range of pop, but he’s out of his depth with Dylan and this review is lazy journalism that feels written to a template.

Here’s Petridis in his review of “Love and Theft”:

Bob Dylan's voice. Never the most mellifluous of instruments, it has deteriorated into a mucoidal, otherwordly husk.

    And here on Hyde Park:

his voice – now a ruined phlegmy gurgle

    Lazy.

    Sounds about right
But I dunno, both statements are true, it just depends on if the listener like that phlegmy voice. Because ruined and phlegmy it is!

So, is it mucus or phlegm? Medical minds demand to know the truth!

I’m reliably informed he has made extensive use of THC over the years, whatever the opener.

When The Circle...was a nice surprise, as was Neil just appearing on stage in the middle of the Dylan set. It was a moment, with many singing along. That may not be captured on the versions posted, but the lived experience of it at the gig - it was a great soulful surprise. Personally I find Dylan's embracing of advertisements in recent years cheapens what the songs represent. So I didn't go the last time he was in Ireland. But I'm really glad I went on Sunday. I was shocked at how good he was. Very clear and real singing. New arrangements played with people but they really worked, with the possible exception of When I Paint My Masterpiece. From start to finish he was excellent. He's have to be there.

Great video of Bob - smiling like the drunken village idiot and with Tony Garnier, the bass player, laughing in the background. Brilliant.
