The cat's actual thoughts: "Yeah, that the ticket..."*

Been using one of these successfully since 2011 to keep my cats outta trouble. They’re the best.

I can't tell if that is a joke or not.

IDK but the device is certainly not a joke. And it’s available for under $50 on Amazon.

My unit protects for over 6 months on an alkaline 9v battery.

Yes but be careful with the big speakers - my cat crawled into the port holes and would sleep inside the speaker! :)

Mine was too fat to fit and preferred to sleep on top of the turntable or hiding and compacting himself behind the center speaker, while I appreciated his devotion to the maxim of "Pour vivre heureux, vivons cachés" I must point out that he was not very good at hiding because his ears were still sticking out and above the speaker.

Wait til the unruly feline begins using your record collection for a scratching post...

    I can't tolerate the animals

That's easy enough to deal with...just put on Lou Reed's Metal Music Machine and turn the volume up to 50%. Then, f0llow it up with Tip Toe Through The Tulips by Tiny Tim, and complete it with Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds by William Shatner.

I have always enjoyed having a good cat around the house. Not a demon cat like I was just given. I’ll explain later why I had to accept the gift and why I must keep this diabolus cattus. Anyway, these 30-year-old speakers were pristine a week ago.

Not all cats respond, but Madam the cat liked me so much, she would do, or not do anything I asked, including the audio gear. She once reached into an LP box and tried to pull the records out. She left a few claw punctures in some of the covers. When shown I was not pleased, (but assured I loved her anyway) she never attempted again!

I do offer a suggestion: If the kitty has a suitable tall scratching post (they like em tall and with a heavy base.. such as a speaker that is solid to pull against) and then shown the post is better, (and it has to be better) and that the speaker is not a scratching post (they're smart and get it) you can trust your kitty to not touch the speakers. The cat may need a few reminders before changing the grille cloth!

As far as hifi is concerned, I have no issues with my cats as I have a dedicated room that is out of bounds to them. As for home theatre, I have to built a fence to keep them out. Ah, the subs are outside the fence but they're covered with plastic sheets when they're not in use [IMG]

So we lock up the audiophile and let the cats have run of the house? :nyah:

Haha that's right. I'm confined to my hifi room and a part of my living room while the kitties can roam the rest of the house

It's been more than two months, since my cat tipped the speakers. I guess the squirt of water did the trick.

I have been told that tin foil wrapped egg tops of cartons did the trick for a friend
