The best production on the album is torpedoed by awful lyrics. It is still as good as anything else on this sad album. 2/5

SIP: Yes, the combination of self-referential and eco-mumbo jumbo lyrics is just plain corny but I like it (the song). As noted, the production doesn't overwhelm things (in either version) and the song has an anthemic quality to it.

3/5 for the U.S version. 4/5 for the U.K. version thanks to McGuinn's guitar, not so much his vocals.

This is alright for what it is and I appreciate that Stamos has brought quite a few fans to The Beach Boys. He obviously had and has a lot of respect for all of the individual members.

His singing is OK and Carl sounds great.

    I prefer the U.K. Version.

    3/5.

The drums the guitar - terrible, don’t suit the song at all. Stamos doesn’t do a terrible vocal, but this belongs on a Beach Boys tribute album, not a Beach Boys album. And did Van Dyke actually agree to play accordion on this travesty? Despite everything the quality of the song does come through but it doesn’t hold a candle to the original and leaves me asking . . . Why? Unless they were that short of material. 1/5

Stamos sounds OK, but I can't go higher than a 1/5.

I like this version better - gospel choir would have been right upDennis’s alley.

I'm sure he was paid, though probably not handsomely!

Forever- I am not going to pile on Stamos. He obviously is a hardcore fan and his efforts to bring Forever to a wider audience are to be commended.

Nonetheless, if I am going to listen to Forever it is going to be the original not the update/cover version, especially in light of the drums and metal guitar solo.

I feel a bit guilty giving it a 1/5 because obviously some care and love went into it and the backing vocals are sublime but, once again, I’m not going back to it unlike a couple of other covers with Beach Boys participation - Don’t Worry Baby by the Everly Bros. or Timothy B. Schmidt’s take on Caroline No.

A wayward genius - even an outspoken one with his own well-developed narrative - isn't above the call of the almighty dollar.

This is how I feel. I don't blame Stamos, I think he really loved the band, but this one should have been left alone. 1/5

Okay this is god awful BUT is Carl's vocal at 2:09 not one of the most beautiful things he ever did? Unbelievable how his voice aged in such a sublime way.

1/5 one point for Carl's 5 seconds of magic.

This track may point to why the album sounds like it does. Mike trying to use the Full House and Stamos aesthetic to appeal to the young people. The result of years of ignoring your musical instincts chasing trends.

When I go looking for Carl magic, this is not the place I go. 0/5.

Summer in Paradise is a Brother Records album from the Brother era.

In a way, it’s lovely that this magical song is now remembered by millions of kids from that era. Obviously, it should rightly be the original but I’d prefer this than for it to languish in obscurity waiting for BB nuts to find it on Sunflower. In a sense, Dennis wrote the last Beach Boys hit. Kind of sweet.

I suppose I'll give it a 1/5. Maybe three songs redeem it from being completely disposable to me, but I could go without hearing them for the rest of my life.

While a couple of songs had potential the production and lyrics brought them down to the level of the rest. 1/5.

The best scenario is for this abomination, with The Beach Boys name on it, is to be completely forgotten. Rotten to the core. 0/5
