Deebank’s guitar work on those early Felt albums and singles is sublime. I’ve always been much more of a fan of the Cherry Red era

 

I've always loved this Mick Grabham solo from Procol Harum's "The Idol". Not super flashy or technical but his fitting the mainly pentatonic bluesy solo around the melody is just awesome. His Les Paul tone is wonderful too.
This fan video uses animation from a Russian film called "The Glass Harmonica" from 1968 which really adds to the song. Solo starts 4:50.

Assuming I can work the forum search function correctly (no guarantee there), I haven't seen this example show up yet. Not exactly who you'd expect to see in a "great guitar solo" thread, but Carpenters included a great fuzz guitar solo by Tony Peluso in Goodbye To Love - and caused apoplectic reactions across the board for daring to mix a "hard rock" guitar solo into a love ballad. Garments were rended in protest...

Initial solo at 1:28 through 1:55; extended solo picks up at 2:51 and goes through the end of the song just past the 4:00 mark. That's a lot of fuzz guitar for Carpenters!
