Reminds me of when a student of my mom's wrote a paper describing 2Pac as "one of the most prophylactic artists of our time."

The thing about Dream Factory is that it’s a Revolution album. So I could see them using a lot of that material with a Parade deluxe, to keep all the Revolution material together (even though a lot of the stuff is just Prince). It’s hard to say what will happen.

I think Camille is the perfect candidate for RSD on vinyl and CD.

Probably the same crappy CD remastering as Purple Rain!

That was an outlier. Did you get the 1999 box?

PR was supposed to be remastered by Prince himself. I don't think it sounds that bad, but the original is great as it is.

I know a lot of you want Dream Factory/Crystal Ball/Camille tracks... but don't you want material that you have never heard before?

The other thing about wanting the actual Dream Factory/Crystal Ball/Camille album configurations to occupy the CD's is that there's so much overlap between them, even lots of overlap with SOTT as released. Crystal Ball only has two tracks that haven't been officially released and those two are no brainers for this set anyway. Between the various Dream Factory configurations, there are a lot more titles that didn't pop up on SOTT or Crystal Ball, but still I think it'd be a massive waste of space to include a straight up "lost album" in the vault tracks. The tracklistings are all over the web, and maybe even the booklet for this release could provide them to buyers so they can assemble their own.

And beyond that reasoning, there's also so much material that was never compiled on any of the three "lost" albums!

Looking forward to a track listing. It’s a brilliant record, and for me got even better with age. If all of the songs from Crystal Ball and Dream Factory aren’t present I’ll be disappointed. This is the time to do it once and for all. Very exciting. Fingers crossed that Parade and Around the World in a Day get deluxes too.

I'm in! I think most of his 80's cds needs a touch up in my opinion.

In this day and age with digital playlists and CD-burning software the norm, I agree that providing the material in an annotated way (without duplication or overlap) that allows the listener to create the "lost" albums - or whatever other configuration they wish - is the best way to avoid the joy of repetition and make best use of the disc space in the set.

I think you overestimate people's desire for 30-something-year-old music and underestimate how serious what's happening in Minnesota (and elsewhere) truly is.

I can’t speak for anyone else here in Minneapolis, nor am I in the heart of the unrest. But I’m definitely under a lot of stress and emotion right now. This news is giving me something positive (however trivial a CD boxset may be in the greater scheme of things) to focus upon. The opportunity to anticipate, imagine, & speculate about something I’ve hoped for for many years is proving to be a very welcome distraction.

For most people, no, it probably won’t make a difference. But I hope everyone finds something to take their mind off the current situation, however fleetingly.

Prince is iconic in Minneapolis. Not overestimating or underestimating.

    A little levity never hurts.
