Thank you very much. I've been dreaming of this project for some time...
We will be posting THOUSANDS of off-copyright cartoons digitally remastered and upscaled to 1080 HD.
We can process about 50 cartoons a month, at this time...
Hoping to scale up to 100 cartoons a month processing capability next month.
We could finish 1000 cartoons in 2021... stay tuned...

Noticed you cut the ending of "Fresh Hare".....
no judgement. In fact, even as a kid, in the '70's, the ending was cut!

I was not aware that Warner Brothers considers those cartoons to be out of copyright.

    No kidding...
If I recall correctly, it was TBS where I had seen the un-cut version...once, maybe...

  15. The original film masters are not available so they can be scanned at native 1080p?

Warners has done some blu-ray sets. Not sure how many volumes.

And with this, I am stunned that so many of these high-profile classics appear to be public domain, despite Warner's continued (okay, admittedly sometimes lackluster) efforts to re-release them.

How do so many of these, which we have seen Warners release on DVD and Blu-ray over the past two decades, fall out of copyright protection.

More to the point, if this is the list you're working on, how does Warners manage to bungle this so badly.

A quick search turned up the uncut version on Vimeo (and on Youtube with a logo from the poster across the right portion of the screen).

Why would Warner Bros allow access to their master elements for films that were allowed to go into the public domain unless they were paid to let them be used?

    Well, they wouldn't, of course.

And to be properly take advantage of the "out of copyright" status, any restoration would have to be derived directly from elements that were created at the time of the original release (i.e.- an original film print, as opposed to using a rip of a modern-day Warner Brothers DVD/BR disc).

To what extend are you restoring or able to restore these films? What elements are you working with?

As a fan of WB cartoons this is really exciting!
