Ustad Ali Akbar Khan, Zakir Hussein on tabla, unknown drone player, Geneva Switzerland 11/23/79. Excellent audience recording, hypnotic, masterful musicianship.
There are times when I've thought of pulling the trigger on this guitar effect pedal. Andy Summers in a box. Pretty pricey though.
I’ve actually been playing the Message in a Box CD set today. The B-Sides and non-LP tracks are fantastic additions to the albums.

there are few albums that manage to be light and "reflective" at the same time. This ARABIC HARP from Belle & Sebastien is one of them. Every now and then I listen to it. I don't know how many years have passed since my pusher recommended it to me ... How many? 20? 25? well, it does the same. It was a good investment in its time. nice record of POP, never banal. Every now and then ... a record like this ... IT TAKES!
I have it, I love it Bought me both of them: VOL1 and VOL2, either. UHQCD... Great CD's... sounding ooooh so well!
It was not. I met Dean in ‘98 I believe, at a Crystal Ballroom kvhw show, but it wasn’t until those McKenzie Ballroom Kimock gigs(Zero Halloween, Dawg Kingdom Zero shows, and the almighty KVHH show), then the SCI/KDTU Hilton Ballroom shows, that we started talking and trading music. Before that, it was just trading thru the early Kimock listserv. Funny...he introduced me to Mountain Girl as well, at the WOW.
I've heard that album a dozen times but never paid attention to the lyric of that song. I just found out it's sung by a teenage Kate about a sexual experience in high school! I'm surprised it hasn't been removed from all copies of the album in this new age.
I don't know for certain, but I believe it to be simple tonal. It used to come and go. About four years ago, it decided to stay. NP: Breaking out the big guns. Stone Roses, Stone Roses. 1989, 1st European press. Oh man, a favorite record of the day. And I've not heard anything that sounds as rich and balanced as the early vinyl. In my opinion. Does one really need to say that IMO business? Seems redundant.
I have a lot of respect for this release and those that made the decision to put it out. When you think about everything they have, are fundraising to restore and their need to make money to stay operational, this is perhaps the least popular choice. At least from a money making standpoint. They just heard the recording and said, “we have to get this one out next.”
From Wolves To Whales - Wooley/Rempis/Niggenkemper/Corsano Made a note to listen to this after @Dahabenzapple @bzfgt and @johnnypaddock were talking about it not too long ago. I like it a lot and the overall vibe is more subtle and varied than I might have expected (not having had any real expectations other than it might be intense, and there are some intense moments too which I also like). I will check out Strandwal soon too.
