IV. I've heard everything on it a gabazillion times over nearly 50 years, and I don't need to hear side 1, track 4 again. But IV brings everything Zep does well together in a single LP. It's all there, from the big riffs to acoustic folk ballads to the epic. It really is one of the high water marks of rock music. Hats off to the producer.

    Some intriguing early running here!

I'm not wholly surprised to see Physical Graffiti in front (it's the Zep album that most has a bit of everything), but I AM shocked to see LZII behind both of its neighbours - has it fallen out of fashion in the Led Zep style cycle...?

Just changed my vote! IV shades it over PG for me. It's just perfect. I used to think the first 2 tracks on side 2 (Misty Mountain Hop & Four Sticks) were a let down after Stairway closed side 1, but I've come to love those tracks now, so that makes it a perfect album for me. PG has some weak tracks, but it is a double after all, room to stretch out and all that, and side 3 might just be one of my favorite sides of any album. I like them all though, except for In Through the Outdoor which I rarely play nowadays.

I hadn't listened to a Zep album all the way through in a long time until recently. I thought III was my favorite but when I listened all the way through the other day I realized that I thought that mainly because III has my 3 of my favorite Zep songs on it (Immigrant Song, Friends, Celebration Day).

Then I listened to Zep 1 and of course enjoyed it very much.

But then I grabbed Physical Graffiti. That album has everything I ever loved about Led Zeppelin. In the Light never fails to draw me in to the remainder of that album.

    So great.

I like the first one. It’s the bridge from the Yardbirds. When it was recorded it was all new and fresh and it has a vibe about the other ones (all excellent albums ) doesn’t have.

This is the sound of a young hungry Led Zeppelin from a time when fame was far from assured and it’s unique in the catalog.

For years and years it's been an eight way tie, but today, I'll pick 'Houses Of The Holy', which was my original favourite when I got into them back in 1982.

Zep II is the guitar album. On every track the guitar sounds totally different, recorded differently, experimental. And it all sounds amazing. Iconic guitar tones on every track. I don't care if Plant is singing about peculiar women, elves, or his lemon. Just gimme that geetar!

I am very surprised to see Led Zeppelin II lagging behind Houses of The Holy, which I consider to be the ¨least classic¨ of the first SIX, classic Zeppelin albums.

I adore that tune. Plant gets a bit of a bum rep for his lyrics, but in fact, the majority of his lyrics (certainly not all) are written from a very metaphoric and autobiographical perspective. People think they are gibberish or stupid, but they often have significant meaning (especially to him). Carouselambra is a case in point. As you said, it's remarkable, both lyrically and musically. It’s a very special piece of prog, and a tune that I loved from word one.

    I, PG and IV.

Sometimes "Song Remains" and "West", but not much. Original "Song Remains", not that that 2007 we-just-had-to-go-and-floop-with-it cut.

Led Zeppelin (I) established their sound from the very beginning and it’s the one I pull out. A groundbreaking album that defined the hard rock genre.
