You said they were "aging", which is not a compliment. I don't think they have lost a step and even think they are a better live act since Eric Avery joined.
Metric/Chvrches might be 2 more. Shirley Manson is friends with Lauren Mayberry. Personally I think it's a toss up in all 4 cases. I'm a big fan of all 4.
I didn’t mean to say that as an insult, otherwise I would’ve used “old” to describe them. But they are decades into their career now, so yes, they are aging. My point is that most bands at this point in their career release increasingly mediocre music. Thus, it’s actually both surprising and a compliment that I quite like the new song.
Oops, yes, that was from the UK store. It is much cheaper from the US store, but no signed prints, at least as of today.
"The Creeps" Wolves" "A Woman Destroyed". Hmm, I wonder what been on Ms. Manson's mind. Strange Little Birds was a dark sexy dream. Wake up and smell the venom.
I love the artwork of the new one (pink colour reminds me of the first record). Their artwork has usually been terrible. I hope it won't be an overcompressed ear-bleeder. The last one was unlistenable. An observation: Are we already witnessing the beginning of a CD-revival? The deluxe edition with the bonus-tracks and the exclusive poster beats the vinyl-version easily. It was different with the last album where the bonus-track was on vinyl.
I listened to the new song and it's super-loud, but musically it's better than everything combined on "Strange Little Birds" which was a terrible album. The deluxe edition is also quite cheap, so it's a must-buy. Vinyl is overpriced.
I don't understand the Strange Little Birds criticisms - I've really enjoyed it & it's been viewed as up there w/Garbage early works. To each their own. Review: Garbage, 'Strange Little Birds' Garbage gets loose on the superlative Strange Little Birds
Title track No Gods No Monsters music video premieres tomorrow on youtube: Here's clip & set reminder.
i hope it's much better than that first song they put out from the new album.....yeesh that was bad! i still pre ordered from their website the autographed lithograph, deluxe 2 cd, white vinyl box set version of the album just because i have loved every album so far with only 1 or 2 songs from them that i don't like, so i'm really giving them the benefit of the doubt after that first track that i absolutely hated...
To each their own. I'm a longtime fan (been there since the beginning) and the first single blew me away. Felt like the old days again. It's definitely a controversial song, and it packs a punch. I love it.
I love Garbage, but hope they're not sonically squashing this new album beyond belief like they usually do.
