I used to work at a Country Club. I would drive up a long winding hill up to the Clubhouse past all these huge houses and gawk like Nunen at the beginning of the film. No deer were harmed tho I did scare some wild turkeys.

I favored "Animal House" when I was younger. I think I like watching "Caddyshack" more now, though "Animal House" is the better film.

I may like the Blues Brothers more than either of them but between the two I'll go with Animal House. Caddy Shack's a little uneven with some great parts but Animal House flows better.

I could easily imagine the Marx Bros leaving their dates at the bar and easily imagine them going for each others girl at the bar.

"Never before was such a chaotic nihilistic bunch of losers loved so much by mainstream America." See the brothers above, in action from 1905 to 1949, who you describe very succinctly.

Your post reminded me of The Rolling Stones song ' Too Much Blood ' wherein Jagger sings of watching ' Texas Chainsaw Massacre ' and taking his wife to see ' An Officer and A Gentleman '

Totally different for me. But I guess Caddyshack. That is shown much more on TV.

I have the same thing with Monty Pythons Holy Grail vs. Brian. Both great, Grail probably packs the jokes per minute but Brian is a more complete, well made film.

I think Animal House was a movie of real cultural significance to a generation.

I, however, am not of that generation. Caddyshack is my vote.

Animal House gets the nod for another reason; no Animal House II!

Though we did get the, (thankfully), short lived ABC sitcom based on it, Delta House, where four of the cast members of the film reprised their roles. Still, it was better than Caddyshack II, in the way a stubbed toe is "better" than slamming your finger in the car door...

Kenney's demise was certainly tragic, but I understand it's still a mystery, that since he was alone nobody knows for sure if he really committed suicide or it was accidental.

Animal house by a mile, have watched it dozens of times compared to the shack which I may have watched once. However, as a few others have pointed out Blues Brothers is far superior. I think these two titles, BB and Stripes should get a poll to see who wins.

That is true. The police ruled it accidental. Harold Ramis was quoted as saying after he found out "Doug was looking for a better place to jump from, when he slipped". The people closest to Doug were pretty concerned that he might take his own life. That is why Chevy took him to Hawaii to begin with as kind of an intervention. What his actual motive was the day he died will always be unknown. Thank you for setting the record straight.

    So the tougher question is
    Which one of these.......

    King Frat
    Caddyshack 2
    Blues Brothers 2000
