I got a delivery estimate of Sept 15th for the triple Iron Maiden splatter LP ordered on 7/21 for $17. Would it be pushing my luck to hope for a box/carton/LP-mailer instead of just a polybag?
Wow, what a deal! No, if you mean Amazon, the last several times they've really behaved and send the vinyl in a box every time. I was a BIT nervous this last one because it was in the White Bag of Death, but the record inside was in a proper cardboard mailer. So, I would think you should be okay...
I’ve only received polybags (no cardboard) my last 5 album orders and try to avoid records from Amazon now. I know it’s coincidental but soon as I joined Prime- all polybags (except Garth Brooks which were shipped in manufacturer’s boxes) Not just records either.. everything from Amazon has been coming in bags and bubble wrap lately.
With the weight of a triple LP I would hope it gets classified into requiring a box. Have any of your polybag shipments been 3 LP sized/weighted?
no, only single and doubles. I only sent one back. I have a long-time friend that works for Amazon, specifically with packaging. He saw my Facebook post and asked for the product page. He’s brought it to their attention before but says they’re really pushing polybags for shipping. Maybe he will be able to encourage some cardboard usage or let me know what to expect.
The Iron Maiden is designated ok to be shipped in polybags since it’s not classified as a collectible. So for those of us who now get LPs in polybags- that’s how it’s coming. My contact is trying to do whatever he does to get it classified as a collectible (like Funko, figurines etc) which over-rides the option for polybag/SIOC shipping. I don’t know what SIOC is, just reiterating what he wrote.
Ship In Own Cover? It might explain the shipping labels attached directly to an item's shrinkwrap that some people have experienced.
I've had luck going with Amazon's once-a-week prime shipping date. Mine is Wednesday, fwiw. They combine orders into a single box most of the time, even if its vinyl + dog toys, or whatever.
SIOC classification is Ship in own Container. It used to be that Amazon received LPs already prepped for shipping in the LP mailers- that’s not always the case now. Some packers will put non-prepped SIOC LPs in boxes but not all. @Mordax.. too funny!
Fleetwood Mac 1973-74 vinyl box set under $60. Lowest was $56 a few days ago. I dont have anything pre SN/LB, 3 studio LPs and a live LP, AAA vinyl, so... Fleetwood Mac: 1973-1974 (4LP,w/ 7") https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08DC69BQ5/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_glt_fabc_YGK4PFT8F6W1TKTNNW3T
A great deal on a great box set! And I thought I was getting a good deal when I paid $90 for mine a year ago.

I had picked up the Greetings for Asbury Park a couple weeks ago. Nice quiet pressing and way better sounding then my original. Plus I got a laugh out of an Amazon review by some idiot who bashed Bruce due to his political leanings. They are probably not a Tom Morello fan either.

Drag City is one of my favorite labels lately, to the point where I will buy anything they put out, if it's a great deal like this. I almost always get their weekly $8.00 (shipped, in USA!) CD selection at this point. This Mackay/Bowles LP for 58% off = no brainer purchase! I'm not even bothering to sample it on Spotify or wherever. Surprise and delight me one more time, Drag City!
