Marston keeps cranking out the great videos on their youtube channel. Well worth subscribing to if you are a fan of historical recordings.

My second or third time listening to this CD. I know she is revered in this music, but I have yet to really "connect" with her playing. The very dull transfer certainly doesn't help matters.

Finishing up my first pass through the wonderful new Barbirolli Mahler box set tonight. As always, Baker's voice is heavenly. The sound quality on this CD is especially clear and vivid.

This morning I am re-exploring this LP( his US tour culminated in this set of amazing performances which were highly rated at the time( even the NYT!) and are not to be missed. There are several issues of this recording on LP and CD-highly recommended. BtW-also is on YouTube):[IMG]

Gilels live is spectacular! I have a CD incarnation of some of those performances.

I tend to be a bit compulsive so if Melodiya has issued something I will get the Melodiya but there are several editions on other labels. And-yes-live Gilels!

Another LP this morning: this is a Japanese King Records Super Analogue Disc pressing of the Ashkenazy London recording. Wonderful! ( OOP).[IMG]

This is such a lovely CD. Truly a shame it is OOP. Hopefully a label like APR gets around to releasing her recordings.

Now enjoying Rubinstein's first recording of the Nocturnes from this wonderful set, recorded in the late 1930s, great transfers by Ward Marston.

Daedalus I haven't heard it all.....

I am not familiar with her so I did some research and discovered her history of working with Faure, Debussy and Ravel. Apparently Faure dedicated several of his compositions to her.

Now playing some interesting music from the Gauk Live box set( the sound on most of these live Soviet recordings is surprising good considering…). But in any event this box was hard to find and acquire -worth every penny.[IMG]

    TonyACT Boxed-in!

I have some Mravinsky CDs I enjoy, some nice diversity in the repertoire as in that Gauk cover.

Mravinsky is one of my favorite composers, especially in Russian repertoire.
