First Paul/Beatles post ever, this won't be a pattern...

#9 and My Lord remind me of each other, lush, dreamy hippy spiritual tinged songs. They also sound like a lost Beatle song. Did Paul ever write a song in this style lyrically, production, style or otherwise?

Nice to see all the love for #9 Dream on the what's your favourite John song thread. Man that song sounds so amazing on both my Canadian and UK records. Euphoric listening.

    None.

Not a slight against Paul, but lush, dreamy, hippy, spiritual-tinged songs are not in his wheelhouse.

For whatever reason, One Of These Days from McCartney II comes to mind.

    "Long Haired Lady"?
Oh, I was thinking of a song with a continuously catchy-border-line annoying refrain.

That came to my mind as well but then I thought he meant solo material…?

What about My Love? Maybe too saccharine?
If so, please consider We Got Married from 'Flowers in the Dirt'. Plus it has a mesmerizing David Gilmour solo!

Maybe I'm Amazed has a nice tinge of inner enlightenment

"Maybe I'm Amazed", "Friends To Go"...
"Yesterday" only if it had been written after Linda's passing.

Maybe I’m Amazed is a dreamy, spiritual hippy song? Or My Love? Really?

Paul McCartney don't need no stinkin' spiritual enlightenment.

True. Although Paul McCartney does so many things so well, I don’t think he has a spiritual enlightenment bone in his otherwise supremely talented body.

"Cosmically Conscious" comes to mind, but my vote would be fore "Palo Verde" recorded amidst Linda's illness and with her voice in there, collaged with horses galloping and Paul singing "let me love you." Stirring, heart-braking and profound.

Hope of Deliverance certainly fits (but you have to like the song-- I do, not everyone does).

Mamounia also has a very spiritual feel.

I don't hear much similarity in sound or lyrical content when comparing "#9 Dream" with "My Sweet Lord." Can you explicate what exactly it is you think they have in common musically aside from vague, nonmusical terms like "lush" and "dreamy" that will mean different things to different listeners? It's like the reviewer who refers to "a marble block of electricity" to describe a guitar part on a record: tells me nothing.

And what's "spiritual" about "#9 Dream"?
