I received all of my Deep Discount orders from the restocking of the bin earlier this month. Considering how bleak the bin had been up to this point in 2021, this was the first time in a long while where I was actually excited about the offerings. It felt like a throwback to the glory days of the bin. I played just in the CD bin (being a digital guy) and found some great bargains. I picked up two releases on the fantastic Ace reissue UK label (Charlie Gillett's Radio Picks and Diggin Gold: A Galaxy Of West Coast Blues - both still in the bin). I also picked up three discs (Kim Myhr, Frode Haltli and Geir Sundsto) from the Norwegian label, Hubro, which releases some great jazz and cutting edge music. Was also pretty excited to find the latest releases from The Lilac Time (i.e., Stephen Duffy - and still in the bin) and Edwyn Collins as well as the recent expanded 2CD edition of Aussie Paul Kelly's greatest hits. Also, a nice Japanese release of Art Blakey's classic "Night at Birdland vol 2" and another Japanese release of the R&B and soul of Ollie Nightingale (of the Dixie Nightingales). Also, a bevy of under-the-radar singer songwriters including Tom Russell, Boo Hewerdine, Archie Roach, Amy Speace and others. All in all, a great haul for just over $100 with the 15% discount. Oh heck yeah...even without enough for free shipping, that one was an instant buy. Thanks for the tip!
This code just worked for me tonight. All it required was $30 or more. So it is even slightly better than their 15% off codes if you can hit right at $30. Thanks for the code @Blair G. !!!
If anyone has an extra copy of the Randy California album and wants to help a brother out, I missed it. Thanks
Just saw on Deep Discount's website that you can get 15% off of in-stock items using the code GOBBLE. Expires this Saturday the 27th at noon CT.
It's sold out on several sites, but it's available for about $113 on Walmart's site, about $119 on ebay, about $126 on Amazon, and about $150 on uDiscover.
Amazon had it at $108 at the end of last week. Lowest I have seen it on their site. So keep a watch out, price could go back to that before the end of the year.
FYI: If you can find the 2010 remaster that was only offered on Harrison's website, while it's only the original album, the sound is MUCH better than the recent DE.
Well, after listening to snippets from the songs in this set, I listened to snippets from these other Cherry Red Records (the company behind To The Outside of Everything) sets that cover the same time period, and had to buy some of them for myself and to give to others as gifts. Thanks again for the great suggestion...otherwise, I'd have never known of these great sets! 1977: The Year Punk Broke Harmony In My Head: UK Power Pop & New Wave 1977-1981 The Contempo Story 1973-1977 However, To The Outside of Everything isn't available anymore on Deep Discount, or ImportCDs, or Pop Market, but is available on ebay at prices much higher than the awesomely-low price that Deep Discount had.
Great sets, all three. TTOOE was available on popmarket for $10 for a hot minute, but vanished round about the time deepdiscount sold out (logically enough).
I hope the sound is decent. Cherry Red has released some real Sonic Clunkers. I love Bow Wow Wow; & they've released 2 musically excellent sets with some of the worst sound ever. & having owned Japanese vinyl of several of the albums back in the day, they were well recorded.
According to Deep Discount's website, the following codes are good until noon CT this Friday, the 3rd: 10% off 2+ in-stock items using code CYB10 15% off 3+ in-stock items using code CYB15 I laugh at the "2+" for the 10% code, because anybody with half a brain would know to use the 15% off code if they buy more than two in-stock items.
