    I dig the fins

Maybe I'll get the actual CDs this time. For some reason the sprawling Zappa sets don't get listened to a lot when I download them, too easy to forget they are there I guess...

Woah! The ZFT come up trumps again! A true "must buy" if ever there was one which hopefully will mean the original Fillmore album and "Playground Psychotics" can finally enjoy retirement. Be fascinating to hear how the Rainbow show has been tackled given the audience tape of it proved there were many technical gremlins plaguing the first half of that show as well as finally reveal when/where FZ's tape ran out. I really dig the 1971 MOI!

Looking forward to the many Billy The Mountain versions.

While I’m excited about the set the fact that the vinyl version of Fillmore East includes “vintage, period-perfect Zappa mixes, some of which are not included in the CD box set and can’t be found anywhere else” irks me. Of course they know their audience and myself and others will drop the extra coin to get those mixes.

Zappa's Legendary 1971 Fillmore East Run, and Shocking Final Rainbow Theatre Gig Commemorated with Definitive Eight-Disc Boxed Set

I'm a third of the way through writing notes on the 200 Motels set, sync comparing stuff four times over for performance differences will make it slow, and suddenly an official email drops announcing an 8CD Mothers 1971 live boxset (in CD sleeves) featuring newly mixed Fillmore shows, Pennsylvania snippets, the Rainbow Theatre show, and bonuses, alongside a 3LP Fillmore album, and a new 3LP Rainbow Theatre album, plus Hi-res on the way, for March 18th.
This is an amazing time to be a Flo & Eddie Mothers fan. Thank you Joe & Co.

The exclusive vinyl tracks are an immediate bummer on this otherwise great announcement.
I hope they release the 3LP set as a digital download, at least.

Fillmore East 71 was my introduction to Zappa at 13 years old and have been listening ever since.

At least there is not a "complete" vinyl release. Imagine how much that would cost

I'm sure it's necessary because they know many people will stream the CD set and they will not earn much coin from that.

Boy, gotta think hard about this one. Over the years, I've really tired of the high school humor of FE and the soundboards that circulate from that period. FE was also my Frank intro in 10th grade, now I only turn to it for the instrumentals and Happy Together. Aynsley is so fantastic on the opening Little House.

edit: wow, a live Chunga and the Beatle cover. I had no idea this band every did Sick Tears

That’s a lot of Billy The Mountain!!!
What a wealth of Stuff this is.
What exactly is the material that is unique to the vinyl? I’ve read through the blurbs and it looks like everything on the cd set is also on the vinyl but maybe I’ve missed something …

This gives me hope that there will be some insane vault material released for the 73-74 band.

I would have preferred the complete '72 UCLA show, I think this Fillmore run is a bit overrated, but I'm glad they keep on releasing archival material.

If the tapes for that exist, the complete Divan suite and Motels finale would be fun to hear patched, no mention of that show here, so you never know!
