I take it you’ve never watched a single National Lampoon’s Vacation film.

    Christmas Vacation is a crapshoot?

It was okay. I call it 'Easy TV.' It's like easy listening music but on TV.

On the whole I’d agree, but it had its moments.

    Hysterical. Beyond funny.

I'm jealous - you've got Caddyshack, National Lampoon's Vacation, Spies Like Us, Three Amigos, Fletch to take in! I remember seeing Fletch in the movie theater when I was young. Dragged my dad. My mom and sister saw "D.A.R.Y.L." or something in next theater. Loved, loved, loved Fletch.

His smug, anti-authoritative, handsome wise-ass schtick was gold in the 80s.

With the exception of a few scenes that haven't aged well (dog dragging), the original Vacation is near-perfect. Chevy first outing as Clark Griswold. Created by Chevy/John Hughes/Harold Ramis. What a perfect mix that all turned out to be.

I don't understand why Three Amigos isn't universally lauded. In my crew it sure is (to this day!). So quotable.. see it and you'll never forget what "infamous" or "plethora" means.

Christmas Vacation had funny moments, but he wasn't funny in it. I like the part where the cat gets zapped.

Chevy was funnier than the cat getting zapped.

IMHO the cat getting zapped was the funniest part of the whole movie, but YMMV

For me, Martin Short can be annoying, I can see why younger people wouldn't find him as funny because pretty much every character he has done in the last 25 years is a variation on either his Jiminy Glick persona (which seems like a self-borrow of his Ed Grimley persona) or Franck from Father of the Bride.

it's a bit interesting to see which duplicate threads get quickly vaporized and those that don't. Maybe looking through a prism would help. Maybe it's because it's somehow about Chevy Chase now.

I thought Martin Short was charming in this, well-balanced but still "him".

Steve Martin always delivers. I really enjoyed Season 1. I like smaller fun murder mysteries like this, and entire thing had the air of a more grounded Steve Martin "The New Yorker" piece.

It's nice to see another SCTV cast member appearing on the show.

  23. They are filming season two now. My son is an extra on the set today. Paul Rudd will be in the next season.

Very cool! That sounds like a fun experience

I really enjoyed Season 1, and thought that the cast had a fantastic chemistry. Selena Gomez does a great job hanging with Steve and Martin

  25. My son texted that Martin, Short and Rudd have really good between scene banter -they get along well.
