A sad loss. A larger than life personality who made his presence felt whenever he was around. He was good fun in Rocky Horror Picture Show. Bat Out Of Hell is one of the great albums of the seventies. He actually made a lot of other good albums. A fun performer who took performing, but not himself too seriously, as far as I can tell. Rest in Peace Meat Loaf, love and prayers to his family and friends.
You will be missed Meat Loaf. It was a fun ride listening to your albums, hearing you on the radio, and seeing you pop up on movies. RIP
Even if his music was not meant to be taken 100% seriously, that man was a seriously good singer. RIP
R.I.P. When I 1st read the news I thought "For crying out loud" tell me that's not true. He will be sadly missed by many.
Bat Out of Hell is such fun album to listen to, when I re-discovered the album in 2019, it was constantly on rotation in my car stereo. Later I bought the Target Exclusive vinyl. R.I.P.
Statement from his Facebook page: Our hearts are broken to announce that the incomparable Meat Loaf passed away tonight surrounded by his wife Deborah, daughters Pearl and Amanda and close friends. His amazing career spanned 6 decades that saw him sell over 100 Million albums worldwide and star in over 65 movies, including “Fight Club”, “Focus”, “Rocky Horror Picture Show” and “Wayne’s World.” “Bat Out of Hell” remains one of the top 10 selling albums of all time. We know how much he meant to so many of you and we truly appreciate all of the love and support as we move through this time of grief in losing such an inspiring artist and beautiful man. We thank you for your understanding of our need for privacy at this time. From his heart to your souls…don’t ever stop rocking!
There's only one album to be played today. A trip down memory lane and back to when my car stereo was worth more than the car itself with badly fitted speakers in the door that could be heard on another continent. I hope they liked Bat Out Of Hell as much as we did. RIP
Sad news indeed. A great singer and performer who achieved success that very few can match, yet always seemed down to earth. There's an old TV interview on YouTube with that 'Disco Sucks' prat Steve Dahl and Meat Loaf is on the show with him. Steve is going off on one and smashing disco records and he gives Meat Loaf one to smash. Meat Loaf refuses and that small thing suggested to me that he was a respectful man. He wasn't going to get caught up in that dubious nonsense. RIP Meat Loaf
Saw the news earlier - very sad to hear this. Bat Out of Hell, You Took the Words Right Out of My Mouth, Two Out of Three Ain't Bad - tracks that were stamped on my summers in 1977/78. RIP and much missed.
There but for the grace of God......We can all throw a wobbly.....deffo Meat was one of the good guys.
I liked and still like Bat Out of Hell. I think it is a great album. Meatloaf was a great singer. I think I have everything he did covered. He will be missed in these quarters. RIP
Not a dry eye in the house. Remember watching the "To Hell & Back" doc on BBC4 a few years ago, and he was struggling with his health even then. But he came over as such a decent guy. EG.
