Neil Diamond has some very good songs. Brother Love's Travelling Salvation Show Girl, You'll be a Woman Soon Sweet Caroline Cracklin' Rosie Forever in Blue Jeans All bangers imho*
Have you heard the original Made in Japan MCA CD of Diamond’s His 12 Greatest Hits? it is an amazing sounding CD. Audiophile/show off your system level sound quality.
The Direct Disk Labs LP, cut by Jack Hunt, replaces the live tracks with the studio versions, as it should be.
Clapton Unplugged #516 cleaned and played today. Lp1 has slight edge warp and some minor scuffing on both records. No major SQ issues. This is my only copy of this record, so do not have a comparison....Imo, this sounds like a live show. Vocals slightly recessed but the vibe of the room def comes through.Really enjoyed it.
Seriously, when he put out the album, Holly Holy album, he went from a pop songwriter who could write a hook, to a more mature, serious singer/songwriter.
Have you heard the original Made in Japan MCA CD of Diamond’s His 12 Greatest Hits? It contains the studio versions of all tracks and sounds amazing - among the best sounding stock major label CD’s I have ever heard.
Unplugged in my opinion is probably the most modest sounding of the One Steps I have heard thus far. Not saying it sounds bad but you really need to goose this one up to bring out the balance and bass. Though compared to the most recent Muddy Waters One Step, this one seems to be mastered more conservatively.
So they have to use the Thriller master tapes each time for these since they are one steps ? Sony is gonna allow them to run the tapes 80 or 160 times ? Really ? Wow.
Seems odd, as the standard redbook version is extremely balanced and resolved. I’m having a hard time believing that they did away with that aspect for this ‘one step’ vinyl release. I just received mine, so this week I should be able to listen.
I'm still occasionally puzzled as to the selections for the OneSteps, either sonically or artistically.
No, his thinking is way over the top of how many stampers are needed. Being a one step, one lacquer makes one stamper. We don't know how many records MFSL presses with each stamper. But lets hope they do the quality control AP does, AP presses 1000 records per stamper. If that's the case it's 40 lacquers per side, 80 total pressing a 1000 per stamper. If they bump that up to 1500 per stamper it would take 27 per side, 54 total.
That’s still a lot of tape plays. These labels seem very over protected of master tapes. Maybe copy tapes used ???
I understand that. Just seems ambitious for labels who usually treat these huge albums like gold or the sacred scrolls to let them pass through tape machines so many times. .
